I would like to know if anyone as any knowledge about this program. Good thoughts or bad. My church is going start this in Febuary. Any info would be appreciated. As long as it focus is the cross of Christ, I'm for it. Just need info.
It was good. Our church just finished the 40 days of purpose and I liked how it was designed to get you to think about why you are here, and what GOD wants you to do as a beleiver. And how to interact with those who dont beleive and beleive too.
Take a look at their website - Purpose Driven Life. The book was written by Rick Warren from Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, CA (Irvine area). A good friend of my sisters, goes to his church - she really thinks highly of him!!:TU:
With a Purpose Our church participated in the "40 Days Of Purpose" program/event. It was wonderful. The daily readings are not difficult to maintain. The book has an unbelievable number of Biblical references. It is well worth your time.
My church (Fundamental Independent Baptist) has used this cirriculum recently with both my Sunday School teacher and Pastor using it. It is a sound, Biblical-based doctrine from what they presented on it. Seems like my SS teacher also mentioned "The Purpose Driven Church" series too?? This forum is really a blessing and one of the main reasons I frequent the site often besides discussing Buicks!
I appreciate your resposes. I have heard it compared to the " Government of twelve" programs that have been emplemented in a lot of churches. I have been told that the g12 programs stresses accountabilty toward church leaders, and away from God and the family. Ends up that you seek approval for everything you enter into in life from a cell group leader. I may have my information wrong. I just don't want to get involved in something that not being led by the Holy Spirit.

I found the first two chapters as a free download. Sounds pretty good. Guess i should'nt be so scepticle. I'm just a product of old fashioned parents.
