Got the 455 on the stand still, hoping to dig in to it today to change the bearings. going to pull the old ones out and reinstall them on my spare bare block to make sure that I can go thru the bearing install procedure correctly prior to installing the TA double groove bearings.

I'm wondering about the freeeze plug at the rear bearing location -- it doesn't seem to be leaking around the plug so I don't think that I'm going to replace it. But I'm left wondering how I'm going to pull the rear cam bearing out since I can't get to the other side of the bearing because of the plug being in place.

    tips/suggestions appreciated

You need to pull the plug.
Maybe you can get the old bearing out with a screwdriver but is it worth the risk.

Use a socket just large enough to fit in the bearing to pop the plug out, then you might be able to reuse it.

Last I checked a complete plug set for the entire motor was 8$, so why not buy a set and put a new one in.

Remove the rear cam plug, just pop it out. It's the only way you will be able to remove and reinstall the rear cam bearing. Buy a new freeze plug kit as well. Don't try to reuse the rear cam plug, or any other freeze plug for that matter. Jim Burek
