This is too weird....USAF doesn't sell these to private parties! This is going to be interesting when the dust settles! See it here:

Several T-38 Talons which is a Northrop desined trainer ended up becoming privately owned. In essence surplus pieces were bought and then airplane was made from parts. A major piece was used to lend it the auto equivalent of a VIN number.

There are several F104 Starfighters in private hands which although a supersonic aircraft designed and put into service in about 1956. Still holds the low altitude speed record or did.

Some were obtained from foreign countries too. I think one of the F104s was obtained as surplus from Norway.

There are many other examples incuding some Russian jets here:

    Mig 15s,17s, 21s etc.

You have to read the fine print, its a lot more than 1.5 mill.

"The current owner will assemble aircraft making it airworthy, with your choice of paint for 9Million Guaranteed, with a lease back offer paying all maintance, parts, fuel, and an hourly rate to its new owner. Was Number 1 and Number 5. Serial number:161973---Lot #6----Block # 13---Don't miss out on this one!"

hmmmhow about Buick red for a color?:Brow:
