    Hi,
I'm trying to figure out what the FB # on my 65 protecto-plate and trim tag stands for. I know that FB stands for Flint, but can't make heads or tails of the following # for either of my cars (both 65's, one has the protecto, the other dosn't). On the protecto, I Believe that the T-# is the engine serial #, is the R-# the rear axle code ? Also there is a letter "V" to the right of the trim code, would that stand for Vinyl ? On the last line of the protecto is a number/letter sequence, I'm assuming that this is the option coding. Does anyone know which options were coded on the plate in 65, and should that code sequence match the option code on the trim tag? Lots of questions, I know, I'd appreciate any help.
    Thanks.

    '65 Protecto Plate Info

The FB # you are refering to is the Fisher Body Number, the V you refer to after the trim code is the month built - no idea what month.
'65 Protecto Plates contain the following info:
    (left side)
    Engine Prod. Code No.
    Trans. Prod. Code No.
Paint Code, Trim Code, Month Built Code.
    Accessory/Option Codes
    (right side)
    Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
    Body Number (FB-XXX)

Accessory/Option Codes: (listed accross bottom of plate)
    J50 Power Brakes
    K30 Cruise Control
    C60 Air Conditioning
    U63 Radio - Sonomatic
    U68 Radio - Wonderbar
    U69 Radio - AM/FM
    A31 Power Windows
    N40 Power Steering
    C14, or C16 2-Speed Wipers

Hope this helps you out - notice this is your first post. Not sure if the protecto plate codes match the numbers on the Fisher Body Plate - you can compare them and let us know. Please add a name to your signature line, we're all on a first name basis here at v8buick ! :TU:
