Getting ready to put the carb on my new motor. What is the recommended torque for a Holley on a SP1 intake? The carb has a billet base and I don't want to follow factory spec's for an iron intake. Thanks, Brian :3gears:

Cool! Thanks Jim. I will tell you, it is a tight mutha to install that engine with the tall valve covers on. About no room at all on the right side because of the A/C housing. But I didn't want to remove them so I managed. Brian

Get the ole impact wrench out and just let her have it. Gotta teach the car who is boss!!!

-Disclaimer: I am only joking. :)

Ya.. we typically put motors in AC cars, with the TA covers, without the covers on.. I just throw on a set of stockers to keep the junk out of the motor, and then put the good covers on after the motor is in place, before we start final assembly toward startup.

I did crack the housing but I can get at it to repair the crack. I did put rags on either side to keep from damaging the valve covers. Hey Jim, what do you recommend as far as coolant mixture and should I use tap water, and what about those additives I hear about for cooling systems? All that is left is to install the fuel filter and put the radiator and front stuff on the motor. Almost there! Brian

    Brian,

Distilled water with a 50-50 mix of Green anti-freeze will be just fine.

Cool, almost time to start rubber coating the wheelwells..
