Anyone ever grease the propeller shaft slip spline? My 63 Wildcat has developed a shudder at just under 30 mph and I was wondering if that could be the issue. Problem is the grease port is not where the book says it is, or is it and I just don’t see it. I thought this would be an easy place to start, but that plug is hiding somewhere.

Does your model have a driveline center bearing?

Yes, it's very possible that can be the cause. You will have to look at the X-Frame towards the rear of the X. There are a couple holes there. Using a flashlight look for a plug, while you turn the shaft, that you remove & install a grease fitting. The plug will be 9/32". It also has a center support bearing surrounded in rubber. If the rubber deteriorates will also cause a shudder.

Forgot to add. Re-install the plug after greasing.

I figured it would be in there. It couldn’t possibly be easy to get to; that would take all the fun out of it. I’m sure it will be rusted tight just for added fun. Thanks for the help. I'll keep you posted.
