    Has anyone out here used a programable ignition such as the MSD-7 or Holley annihalator?
    What's your experiance with these Ignition controllers?
    I know that they seem kind of an overkill for a purely street driven car, but what advantages/performance have you seen.
    The idea of being able to control your advance curves, timing, and spark with a lap top is very cool.

    Kind of on the same topic . . . . .OK, not the same at all but I'm too lazy to start another thread;
    has anyone had any experiance with the TCI Auto Trans with programable shift points? I can't recall the model but I read an article about it some months ago. Any experiance?

    It seems that soon my lap top is going to be as important as my Digital Volt Meter.

    I am used a MSD 6al,with a two step rev limiter,fixed program timing curve,welded advance in dist. and a pertronix ignitor(intsead of points).I love the setup. I run a total of 38 degrees @2800rpm.The timing computer does the rest. If you fix the dist plate,make sure it is the right place,were it would be with out any movement from the vac advance.Another thing is to supply 12 to thepertronix before you spin the motor. It requires 12volts to read correctly. Hope this helps. Mike Nussell

    I use the MSD Digital 6+, fired by an Ignitionman MSD trigger conversion distributor. I love it. It has primary and secondary rev limiters, a selectable 20* start retard, and a high speed retard adjustable from 0-9.9* in .1* increments At the track, with some race gas mixed with 93 pump premo, I run 16*initial, 36* total @2500 RPM, and retard 4* back to 32* at 4400 RPM, and up. On the street, 12* initial, 32 total, and back to 30* at 4400 and up.

    I'm using the Holley on both my cars. One is triggered with an HEI pickup, the other with a stinger pickup from my old S-4. I'm happy with them. Also, you don't end up having 15 boxes and half-dozen rpm chips (like the MSD) as you add on features to the system. lastly, it's priced competitively with a basic MSD unit.

    I had read someplace that the Holley Pro-Strip Annihalator was discontinued. I don't know if it has a new improved replacement or not.

    Love IT!

    I use a Digital programmable MSD-7 and I love it. It is all the boxes you will ever need in one. You can adjust it by a handheld controler or by a labtop/home computer. You can adjust the timing curve any way you want, you can adjust individual cylinder timing (for lean and rich cylinders), adjustable start retard, multistage timing retards for nitrous, launch retards for traction control, switch activated rev limiter( for trans brakes), rpm window switch, rev limiter, rpm drop timing retards, optical ignition pick up, and some other stuff that I can't remember. You can set up and save on a labtop several different combination setting and just plug in and load it all at once. Not to mention it saves on all the wiring several different boxes and no "pills" to deal with. The hand held controler is pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it. You have to realize you have alot of adjustments that can be made and you have to learn how to navigate through the mapping of the controler.

    I heard alot a bad stories about people having problems with the Holley System and maybe thats why you don't see it any more. THe MSD Prgrammable 7 was on sale last Christmas in Summit for $499. If you didn't get one you missed out on a good deal. Overall, it was money well spent. :TU:

    The MSD 7-Programable sounds like a great idea. I didn't know that you could save a timing map to a PC and load it at your leasure. Sure would make transitioning from the Street -Track- Street much easier. I'll have to price one and look into it. Thakns a lot for all of your input,
