I have the book "Guide to GS Buicks 65-75 by American Musclecar publications Also known as "The GS facts and figures book" I have been curious to know how they aquired the production numbers by model, year, engine and trans. Is there anyway to get the same information on the 1964 Skylarks and Specials? I am most interested in how many four speeds. Thanks

I think you may be confusing car specific paperwork versus more general paperwork like say daily car reports.

I called and they said they should be able to give me a breakdown of Skylarks and Specials by engine and then by how many of each were equipped with a 4 speed. Supposed to get back with me latter this week. I will post back the results.

Well I recieved some information back from the Sloan Museum. They have been very helpful.

There was a total of 2764 Skylarks (Includes all possible 4200 and 4300 series cars) equipped with four speed transmissions. Of those 1954 were two door sport coupes(4337), 752 convertables (4367), and 58 four door sedans (4369). No Station Wagons. In comparison there were 70352 Automatic (300ST) cars. So it looks like only about 3.2%

There were 694 Specials (4000 and 4100 series cars) equipped with 4 speed transmissions. 74 were 2 door coupes (4027), 24 were four door two seat station wagons (4035), 231 were two door convertables (4067), 69 were four door two seat station wagons (4135), and 51 four door sedans (4169)

If anyone is looking for more information on 1964 Skylarks or Specials drop me a pm. I have more info. on other options and information.

    Diego,
I dont have the breakdown on three speed cars by model but I think I can tell you total number of cars with 3 speeds since I know the total production and I know the breakdown on automatics and four speeds. Only three transmission options that I know of. I will do some calculations and get back to you.

    Diego,
Using the methoed described above it appears there would have been 14655 Specials and 12754 Skylarks built with three speeds.

    Hey Mark
    Good Job...:TU:
Alas, may 64 Skylark is one of the ST300's. Sure would be nice to have the ragtop with the 4 speed.
Keep up the good work!!!.....hmmm wonder how many had white exterior/red interior??

    Hey trisheildfan,
Tell me if your car is a bucket seat car or type of seat and model and I can tell you how many cars had red interior.

I now have the full 1964 option breakdown by plant, model and number of cars if anyone is interested in something. I also now have all of the UPC codes for the options. I am continuing to collect data on the 1964 cars.

    Trisheildfan,
Looks like there were 1626 model 4367 cars with red vinyl interior from all plants. 516 from Balt. , 677 from Flint, 266 from K.C. , and 167 from Fremont. I am still looking for exterior color breakdown but have not been able to get it.

    Skip,
Unfortunatly they did not split convertables out seperate for some reason on the air condtioner option. For the 4200 & 4300 cars there were 20150 cars with air. 4100 series was 9198 and 4000 series was 2842. Total of 32190 Specials and Skylarks. If you need I can split these down by plant.
