Recently, my mom invested a good sum of money in a gas-powered 1/8 scale R/C Monster truck for my brother and I. It was the best deal we could find, better than our local hobbie shop which was selling the T-maxx, what they say is the best selling one right now, for upward of around $400, and that didn't include things like a fuel bottle and a glow starter and things like that. Well, we found one that was bigger and faster for just about $200, by mail order and it comes with everything but fuel and spare glow plugs. Well, we got it on Christmas day and took it out on the back porch to try and fire it up, it took us a while because we couldn't seem to get it primed. After about an hour, we finally got fuel from the tank to the carburator. I fired up and worked without any problem. We broke it in according to the instructions, five tanks on full rich at low speed on a hard flat surface. We then took it out to my uncle Donny's house and got him to help us tune the fuel needles properly. He should know how, because aside from having the fastest Buick and overall fastest car i have ever had the pleasure of sitting my fat butt in the seats of, he also has built, flown, crashed, rebuilt and intends to build more gas-powered model airplanes than i can count. So, after we got it tuned right, we took it out for a joy ride down the long straight paved road infront of his house. Now, this is a monster truck, running on 15% Nitro glow fuel, it has a top speed of over 40mph, it's four-wheel drive and has reverse, and it has a two speed tranny. To say the least we about wet ourselves we were having so much fun. Me and my bro both played with it, and it was even more fun when it started ti ran and the street got slick. I ran it into the ditch one time, but thanks to reverse four-wheel drive, i backed out and took off slinging mud. Well, after we got done with that, it all went to shite. We found out later that the pull rope had burnt off because it was so close to the exhaust pipe. We went to the hobbie shop and got a new pull rope. After we installed that and tried to run, apparently we did something wrong because the gears on the drive train stripped. So, $120 and two weeks later, we got it running again, only this time, my bro rolled it and apparently, that bent the axle on the rear left wheel. We tried to fix that but it didn't quite work. So, my mom just said go play with it for now and we'll try to fix it later. Well, we ran it through tha mud and water and did every bit of the off-road vehicle it was. But then we couldn't get it to turn, so either the steering servo is fried or it's just stuck. So, now we're sending it back to see if they can fix it, give us a new one, or give us our money back. At this point, my brother is :af: , i'm like :Dou: , and we're both just wanting to :blast: . This didn't really have much of a question to ask, just something to complain about. Feel free to leave any comments.

Mail Order.. would that be Tower Hobbies? I used to fly model airplanes religiously myself. What brand radio/reciever/servos you get? Well put it this way, when you crash, it doesnt leave a cloud of balsa and foam.

It's a Duratrax Thunderquake, all Duratrax parts, from Tower Hobbies. It has a 21 Torq engine.
