Presidential Line of Succession U.S.A.

This Canuck is curious.
If the Presdent becomes incapacitated and the Vice Pres is say too ill to serve, I know that the Speaker of the house becomes Pres but who becomes Vice pres?

 

Secretary of treasury is next up, then secretary of defense and then the AG, that's the line of secession anyway

 

The president pro tem would be next in line behind the speaker of the house looks like

 

Looks like I'm about 20th in line to the oval office. President Joe has a nice ring to it. The first order of business will be souping up that limo.

When a new / replacement president is sworn in, the new vice president would be selected by the new president and confirmed by the Senate and the House. Everyone else stays where they are.

Happened with Gerald Ford (nominated by Nixon) and Nelson Rockefeller (nominated by Ford).

 

Alexander Haig is always next; even if he's dead.
