Ok normally I dont post things like this but a little help would be appreciated. 7 weeks ago my grandma Joan was diagnosed with stage IV cancer in her pancreas, it also spread to her liver. Her blood count at that time was 197,000. My grandma is 71 and is the most energetic person in our family, she is loved by everybody, and is the glue to our family. She is also extremely positive and optimistic and she has held the same mindset throughout the past 7 weeks. This is my first time going through with a family member having cancer, so excuse me if my medical jargon is off. Her doctors told us every six weeks they will do a blood count test to benchmark the chemo and whether or not the doses need to be changed. They told us dont be suprised of the blood count does not go down or change at all the first time. Well we got the results and her blood count was down to 2,000! We couldn't believe it! They then ordered a pet scan to be done to see if the rumors shrank. We are still waiting on the results. Over the last two days she has felt more weak then ever. She has struggled to keep food and fluid down. She managed to garner enough strength to go to her pet scan yesterday. Today she was becoming dehydrated and decided it was time to go the hospital. The ER doctor thinks it could be sepsis. Please think of her in your prayers. I just got off the phone with my mother and she was able to keep down some soup and is still her upbeat self.

    Thanks,
    Louie

Sorry to hear about your Grandma, Louie. You should spend as much time with her as you can spare to help keep her spirits up as she goes through all the medical treatments. She needs family and prayers and lots of support. Cancer is a terrible disease.

Thoughts and prayers coming your way, Louie.

I am not sure if I am of any help. This is my first post on here so bear with me. Your grandmother would surely do well with some boosting of her body to withstand the chemo. I am not normally a believer in some of the crazy remedies out there but my step mom was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer that had spead everywhere. She was given 3 months to live. That was 7 years ago. Now every situation is different but her physician was a Gyn Oncologist/Herbologist meaning she used standard treatments and also supplemented with other known products to help.

Some of the items she was given were massive doses of Vitamin C (IV) and I think even DMSO was involved but not sure 100% as that is not FDA. Long story short, they were able to boost her white count to where it could actually handle 2x the dose of Chemo. The results speak for themselves.

There was a clinic in Wichita Kansas under the name of Dr. Reardon who was the herbologist side of this combo of treatment. Perhaps they can assist you in giving some ideas.

Your grandma is in my prayers. Mine was just like yours. She was the pillar of our family. Spend that quality time too as suggested. If things do not go well or there are continued issues, please consider Hospice as a plan. It is incredible and is something I would want if I ever had issues like this and there was not a recovery. Its wonderful help and support and good for the whole family. My grandma called it "hostage" but she loved all those caregivers. :) Good luck

Thank you everyone for your continued prayers. My grandma is continuing her fight and she is winning! Her blood count is currently down to 119!! Her doctors say normal counts range from 0-49. Thank you again!

Louie, My prayers are with you and your Grandma. I fought the cancer battle with my Dad and 2 wives. There is no promised ending. What I came away with was how important it was to spend time with them, let them know how important they are. That time is so important no matter which way the battle goes. Give her my best and tell her not to ever give up the fight.
