Most of you know Larry Miller, he is the guy who puts on the Friday car show at the GS Nationals. Larry and his wife Karen have been fighting brain cancer for over a year. He is not doing well and has not improved for quite a while.

I would like to ask all who will to include Larry in their prayers. Karen needs prayer, too. She needs the strength that prayer can and will give. God Bless you all.

Chicagoland reporting in, here. This will be posted on our club board tonight, and I know the prayers and wishes will be chiming in. We'll pray for Larry to rally around, and for Karen to continue to find the strength of two.

Please hang in there, both of you.

    Update on Larry

This past Sunday, 10/17/04, Paul Haddock and I drove up to Statesville to visit Larry and Karen. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Larry looked better than I expected. He is too weak to be on his feet, so he now has a hospital bed and is basically bed-ridden. He was in a good mood and he recognized both Paul and me. That was very heartening. But, Larry is still in bad shape.

Karen is holding up quite well, but she needs your prayers and thoughts. She is putting up a good front and I truly think they are having some real quality time just being with each other. It's good to see.

Please continue to keep both Larry and Karen in your prayers. I think, that, if you wish to call them or send an email or even a snail mail, that would be much appreciated. I don't have their email or 'snail' mail address, but I can get it if anyone wishes to get in touch with them.

Keep those prayers coming and God Bless all,
    Race Lutz

I just fired one off myself.

Here's a pic of Larry & Jarvis Allen winning "again" at a recent Charlotte Auto Fair show. I think it was 2002 or so.

Oh well, my pic is too big and I can't find another free image sizer on the net, so can I email this pic to someone to resize & post?

Edit: Thanks to "Skwee-G" for the link to the free image sizer!

    Larry passed away

Saturday Morning 11/20/04 at 11:00 AM EST

    Hi folks,
It is with a very sad heart that I send you this email. but, it is a fact of life and I feel like I am the one who needs to do it.

Larry Miller of The Carolinas Chapter of the Buick GSCA passed away early this morning. He lost his battle with brain cancer. But, we all lost a fine friend and the consummate car collector. And Karen lost a wonderful and devoted husband.

His funeral will be at his church in Statesville, NC and right now it is scheduled for Monday afternoon, Nov. 22. As I learn more, I will send it along to you.

Larry was in charge, along with his wife Karen, of the Friday Car Show at the GS Nationals for as many years as I can remember. Everything concerning the show usually went off without a hitch, but not only that, he had the people in place and had them signed to do the job. No matter how much they moved the show, Larry was always ready to tackle the problems and give equitable solutions. I am proud to say that at every Nats. I attended, I helped Larry in some way. As did the rest of the Carolinas Chapter members.

This is about all I know now at 10:00 AM Eastern, but as I find out more, I will update everyone

    Regards,
    Horace 'Race' Lutz

Larry will be missed - I got to know Larry corresponding and talking with him at Nationals about 67's - He truly was a great person - one that we all should strive to be like in the hobby. My sympathies to his family.
