I want to switch my manual windows to power. What kind of car can I get the parts from? And is this a straight forward conversion?

I don't know all cars that interchange but I guess that 69-69 Skylark convertibles have the same regulators. Probably other A bodies too and maybe newer ones? It would be a good idea to see if the regulators used in two door hardtops are the same. A GM dealer with old parts books could help you with that (and maybe other members here too!)

I did that with my 65 Wildcat 4 door hardtop. I took the parts from a 65 Electra 225 4 door sedan and the parts were the same. before I bought the parts, I went to my GM dealer to see if the part numbers were the same and they were. Even the power window switches were the same.

This installation is not very hard to do and it's worth it. Even more on a convertible. You shouldn't have problems with your actual door panels (unless they are damaged near the window cranks) as the switches will fill the crank holes.

Next step, Power vents! I already have the driver side switch (part numbers were the same as 63-67 Corvette) and the motors. Now I need the passenger side switch (the same as passenges side front power window swithes in all 65 Electra 225 models and the base model 66 Electra 225) and the wiring. But this time I'll have to send the door panels to an upholstery shop to have them redone and to fill the crank holes (I still have enough cloth for that).

    power windows

Donor parts will have to come from another 68 a body 2 door car .the rear regulators are the same up to 72 but the fronts are 68 specific because of the vent windows on the 68.click herefor info.

I converted my 69GS convert to power windows 20 years ago and the doors were a direct bolt in just changed the regulators the rears i used the hard top PW units with my windows ( I think ). The hardest part was cutting the doors for the harness although there was dimples as to were the grommet went. Also get the whole harness for the windows as well I used my chassie manual for all my data and diagrams

The Parts Place Inc. has a complete power window conversion kit listed you might try them. The complete kit for a 1968 convertible is $799. Hope this helps.

    Kraig,
    Yes, thanks. That dose help.
I am doing a frame off restoration. I finaly got the frame striped so I can blast it. So I have a while before I will need them, I will start saving now. Maybe I can find a used set between now and then.
    Thanks again,
