Does Power-Trax make a unit for the 8.5 10 bolt with non c-clip axles?

Should work fine with or with out c-clips as long as it is 28 spline. I will check but am pretty positive your good with any 28 spline power trax 8.5 10 bolt unit lock right or EZ locker. Jim

This response might be a little late, but I did a powertrax unit on the 12 bolt I put in my '66...

Non-C clip axles should work, as its the axle shafts that hold the powertrax in.

BUT! ...IMO, the powertrax isn't a good buy for the street. I've had about 6 months of driving with it, and it acts more like a spool than anything else.
They say on turns the teeth allow the inner tire click to travel slower than the outter tire... I've found that my outter tire drags just like a locked spool.

I didnt want someone to make the mistake that I made. As soon as I find the $, I'm going with a true posi carrier.

power trax vs traditional cone clutch posi

All depends on your needs. Everyone that is looking to get into thew positraction world needs to determine what they need thier unit to accomplish . If you do some series dragging on the weekend and want the strongest thing next to a spool...The power trax /lockright/e-z locker is the way to go. If you do some burnouts for fun to show off , some blasted down the track couple times a month and mostly cruise or drive your car alot then the traditional Cone / Clutch type positraction unit are your weapon of choice. You must be true to what you are really going to do with your car to make the correct decision. Good luck hope you all have a quick winter and a long summer. Jim :TU:

Jim my car is more of a daily driver with a few trips to the track in the summer. What would you recommend as far as a carrier?I occasionally battle the fart pipes away from the track.

    Diff carrier

I think a standard cone or clutch type will do for your needs just fine. Even a good use unit will probably do the job. If you can squeeze the money for a new one ...I WOULD definetly do it. Jim
