Indeed Sir. Infact, I bought a belt 1 size smaller so I could get it nice and tight. Is there a difference in pumps? When I search the part numbers it is for range of years and GM cars.
The one thing you state in this post is " IN GEAR BRAKE ON ". When you turn the steering wheel your front wheels will rotate forward and backward. If you are standing on the Brake pedal you are not allowing the wheels to rotate thus putting more strain on the pump. Especially bad if you are on concrete. Try in gear with the emergency brake on and the rear wheels blocked and see if you still have the same problem.
Hmm....that never really occurred to me. Very good point and test. I know when I test drove the car few weeks ago with the 1st replacement pump while turning around doing a 3 point turn is how I realized there was a problem. But this is another pump and I have not actually driven it yet, just held the brake. Hmm......I will test. Can't hurt. And yes, I am in my concrete garage
