Hi I own a 62 special 4 door, it has manual 4 wheel drum brakes .
I am looking for some info on fitting a booster in the engine compartment
as you can see the original master cylinder is 1 inch from the cars structure

you could mount it like they do on the old 30s hot rod style cars and in the frame under the car and change your brake pedal set up to a floor mount.......i dont see how a booster would clear where it is with out notching the steel to the right of it

Well, I've got a 62 Skylark, and I think it has power brakes. When I get it back from the shop, I'll check it out and see what I have to report.

I was talking to Bruce Steinhaus a couple of weeks ago and he said he had some original units that he parted-out - probably need rebuilding. His phone number is (810)233-3961. HTH

I was not aware that there was a power brake option for 62, my shop manual is the 1961 and they dont cover powerbrakes.

He was a Technical Consultant with the Compact Buick Club (now extinct I think) for restorations. He is in Flint, Michigan. I think he has many spare parts from many years in the "small Buicks" arena. He can lead you to Dan Lagrou also of Flint who has complete line of engine parts and etc. if needed.
