Has anyone ever fixed the "rearend" part of the power bench seat mechanism? The part that the cable goes into, and turns a small gear that moves along the teeth on the track itself to move the seat. The cable spins fine when the switch is pressed but the small gear does not spin, so the seat doesn't move. Does anyone know if you can repair this part or where you can purchase a replacement? I will try to post a pic later.

    Thanks
    Shawn

If anyone else has this problem, I figured out that putting the part in a vise and slightly crushing it will cause the shafts to get closer so the gears will once again catch, and the power seats work good as new.

What's it from? I've taken apart my 1972 GS 4 way , as it was a rusted up , tangled with carpet strands , mess. In the Fisher body manual , there is a troubleshooting guide. Mine simply wouldn't move. Have 12 volts to the motor, and the jackscrews moved freely. I have parts from 3 cars , and the only thing I didn't replace was the transmission. Then I read the book, and guess what their diagnosis was ???? The transmission. Haven't had a chance to do it yet, but seems logical. PM me with specifics and I'll help as much as I can.:TU:
