BigBlock68 Love that old car smell.

Nope, they tested all kinds of things to see if they helped performance. I can't remember any besides the mothballs, but I think that's the only one that worked.

Recently, another forum I belonged to was plagued by the biggest bull$hi77er in the history of the internet. Banned from every car forum he subscribes to. At the start, it was funny, but now it seems he is truly delusional. He records his street racing exploits from the driver's seat with a video camera. The other cars don't even know they're in a race! He is truly off his medication. If you can be bothered, he's got a few commentaries on youtube. Here's the crap he posted on Ausrotary. Some comments turn a bit "blue" due to the frustration:
    (NB his 2nd paragraph! Mathametician)

Honda driver at my buddies work wanted to race his 71 lemans bad. Told him it was old and slow. 12.5 @108 mph good car. Anyway he went and got a turbo, he was told it was now a solid 11sec car. He hit a 13.4 Not bad but not 11 sec. He is still convinced from a rolling start he can take the Pontiac. There is no replacement for displacement.

I hear this almost every time I buy a car.
    Theres no rust:spank: .

And when I bought my skylark: the cam fragged itself under normal driving conditions I wasnt racing or over reving it at all, I wonder how the cam just exploded into four pieces:shock:

"This 400 makes 600hp" well how much do you want for it "give me $500" ok sold. Took motor appart has 1.94 heads, and stock rokers, not making 600hp but not a bad deal for a recently rebuilt, running motor.

Well, actually it is easy. I had a cam fail a couple of years ago and traced the problem to a soft hydrolic lifter. It rockwelled the same as hot rolled steel. In other words it wasnt heat treated at all.

A buddy of mine had a lifter stick in his 73 Firebird Formula 400. Bent the pushrod, snapped the cam in 2 pieces, sheared the gear, wiped the timing set, and destroyed the balancer. All of this was done starting it up on the trailer the day it was going into storage for the winter. No BS.

Ok, Im young but I already have quite a few.

First, in the last two weeks, its one ricer, two different things on two different days. A few weeks back, in drivers ed (im 16) and I realize that in the back of the room is a model of a '64 409 Impala. This ricer kid, with a 2000 Mitsubishi Lancer (not an Evo), 100 % stock comes along. (Ive heard from two of my friends that when he left class he tried to spin the tires and they said it was pitiful. One just likes cars, admittantly knows nothing, the other has gotten into muscle under my influence and bought a '66 Stang. Neither one of them know what a real burn out looks like, but they do know a sad one. Anyway, they both said they wished I was there to see how hard I would laugh.) Anyway, hes like "I could smoke that shi*" so im like "So youre Lancer runs 13s on stock tires?" He just shut up. Same ricer, day or two later, I oevrhear him talking about someones Evo who supposedly goes to school with us that has "twin turbos and 600 hp to the wheels." LOL yeah, im pretty sure Ive seen it and I would be able to tell if it did even though I dont know rice, it wouldnt sound stock. And they also only have one turbo from the factory, im sure a twin turbo kit would run about 6 or 7 Gs if there is one.

Ricer last year in Auto(I dont know if I should call him a ricer or not, he has a '99 Civic with a VTec, but theres no fart can or graphics, just a polished tip) tried to tell me he runs 13.5s. I called BS on it and he never tried it again. He knows whats what though, he just likes Hondas. He funny though so we get along. But the shop is full of ricers. This year there one really stupid one. He thinks everythings a turbo. I like to mess with the ricers so I tell them that startrs are superchargers and crap like that.

A fun way to BS someone is to disconnect the vacuum advance, to some people it sounds like a lopey idle lmao.

My favorite thing to do to ricers is t go "Oh I know someone with this car, bone stock, they installed a continueum transfunctioner (from Dude Wheres My Car) and it runs 11s. They will usually say "Oh where can I get one" or "Im looking for one." LOL love to mess with those ricers.

    This says it all.

I have one thats somewhat a BS story. At a stoplight with a Eclipse turbo car, awd. I have my 65 Buick SPECIAL 4Dr. Has the 300 2bl and a shot auto tranny, plus a broken exhaust. Asked to race me and reved his engine. I knowing my car can't beat an electric wheelchair rev back. He suddenly doesn't want to race my car because its the black chevy hes been hearing about. I thought it was pretty funny.

Back in the 'good old days' to make every body think we had a hot cam in a flat head ford we would screw one idle screw in to run lean and the other one out to run rich. That made the engine lope like one with a hot cam.

    yes I know this..
I'm just saying that everyone i know even motoX racers and the lil crotch rocketeers usually have some sort of baffle or pipe .. (even tastles hanging off the handlebar grips) technically isn't stock anylonger.. Just saying I really don't know anybody with anything stock is what i was implying...:3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears:
Even my father's Rainier is slightly modded. Without his knowledge ofcourse LOL

Motorcycles are a different story. I used to race pro stock bikes way back when the record was 8.99-9.00 and I worked for Yamaha building the race motors in 1972-73 (showing my age). Anyway, shortly after I married (1991 & second time around for us both) we went to my brothers house who had just bought a V-Max. I ask my wife if she wants to go for a ride. She says her first husband had a 600 and it was fast. I say it was slow junk (she does not know of my racing carrer a couple of decades earlier). We get to an open road, I stop and tell her to hang on tight I'm going to show her what fast is.

I launch it hard and spin the tire a little to keep it from going straight up, slide forward on the tank to keep it down and when it hooks it brings the front up about 6-7 inches and stays there for a about fifty yards. I slide back power shifting to second and it comes back up about 3-4 inches for a second or two and slowly settles back down and then I bang third and keep the throttle twisted. We are now about 115 and still pulling hard. I catch fourth and run it out to about 135 with my wife screaming stop since the launch. I slow and stop laughing my head off and she punches me hard in the back and up side the helmet (she's a Marine) and says if I ever do anything that stupid again with her, she will shoot me I'm still laughing though and that is just making her madder. I took her back slowly we were still sort of newlyweds and I wanted (well you know what I mean).

Reminds me of the time I had a 49 Ford cpe. witha t-bird engine in it. I had 'installed' some bucket seats. I bolted mine down but not the passenger side. The wife was setting there chattering away when some guy in a corvette wanted to run. I hammered the throttle and heard the wife let out a screech, second gear, pulling strong ,3rd gear, and stop at the next light.
Looked over at the wife, the seat had turned over, feet and legs sticking straight up, she is flat of her back, petticoats all over the floor, hilarious.
