Posi rear from 72 Cutlass S

    cole d In search of a new Ragtop

    I found a complete rear end from 72 Cutlass the guy wants $500 is it worth that? Here's the for sale ad;

    One Complete Factory Positraction ( Anti-Spin , Safe-T-Track ) Rearend Assy from a 1972 Cutlass S , Desireable Corporate 8.5" 10 Bolt (much stronger than old 8.2" small pinion type), Factory Bolt-In Axles (No C-Clip eliminators needed)
    only produced in 71-72 for A-body the gear is 2:73

    I need your opinion I want to buy it and not pay a arm and leg

    A complete original posi unit is hard to find these days so I would buy it if I were you. I bought my drum to drum Buick GS 1971 3:08 posi unit for $500 a year ago.

    That's ok but a new ring/pinion is going to cost you
    about $300 plus install----unless you are keeping it a
    hwy cruiser. Pete
