I've come across what I believe is a posi from a pre '64 Buick. I did a seach but couldn't come up with a way to identify it. Is this posi a Buick? If so, what years would it fit?

How about the ring gear? It must be 9 3/8" and have a part number on the side.

I'm thinking 50's or early 60's Pontiac or Olds.

The ring gear # 136522114-43GM25. Has 43 teeth. The pinion gear # 136522214-43 and has 14 teeth. Also has J, 65 and 4 stamped on the gear. The housing has 156 stamped on the side.

Probably '63, '64, or '65. The 3.07 gear ratio wasn't available in '62 or the years prior.

We pulled the open one from that red '62 Invicta at Rohner's-it was a 3.07-Tim has it-

Really? I don't think the 3.07 is the listed in any of my '62 literature or shop manuals.

Hmm, now I'm second guessing myself  .

    Thanks for the help!

Would a 62-63 center section be round or slightly oval?

Slightly oval like all the Buick removable carriers.

Any idea what the spline count is? '62 should have 33 splines, I think in '63 they went to 30 or 31. '64 might have been when they changed it though.

I know my '64 Riv. is 31 splines. I've owned it since new so at least this is a given. The car was built 12D, meaning the 4th. week of Dec. 1963.

    It's got 31 splines, sounds like it's definately a 63.

BTW, it's for sale, shoot me a PM if interested.
