After I finish rebuilding the front windshield frame, I'll need to protect it so it doesn't rot away like the original had. I remember someone suggesting in another thread that he POR-15'd his after making similar repairs. I've tested the stuff out (it's amazing! :eek2: ), but not on a car yet.

What should I do to make certain that the windshield adhesive/seal and surrounding paint will really stick to that area after the POR-15 is applied?

Any and all advice will be appreciated.

Did you have to prime it while the POR-15 was still tacky?

The flat black paint is a pinch weld primer for the windshield adhesive. you need to replace it. You should not replace the windshiels on a painted surface.

i took mine to bare metal and got rid of all of the rust. I POR ed it immidiatly after. I primed it with por's tie coat primer. Then RACEBUICKS use the above mentioned Black primer. he then used a 3m windshield install kit from napa.

    Hope that helps
