    Hello all,

Would anyone like to take a crack at decoding the POP imprint on the back cover of the owners manual on my wifes GS. Some of of the numbers are beyond me. I'll try and attach a picture.

    Thanks

Which numbers Shayne? I think we discussed this on the phone last year when you registered this car? :bglasses:

    154 Trim Code
    75-A Paint
    446670H...- VIN
    SS 456 - Motor code/production code
    OO - 3.42:1 rear
    6 - Car assembled June 1970
    BB 447 Trans code/production code
    1,2,6,8 - options

    1 - power brakes
    2 - A/C
    6 - ???
    8 - power steering

I don't have my books - someone else will decode the 6. It's in the chassis manual.

    Does this help?

    Cool Marco, thanks.

I didn't know what the "production codes" (456 & 447) where. I guess I still don't know what a production codes is. Also didn't know what the 6 was, June of 1970. That makes since, the cowel tag says 06C. Also didn't know the OO was the rear end code and that the 1,2,6,8 where options.

I've been trying to get a hold of Wayne Roberts to see if he has anything for me, but I haven't had any luck talking to him yet. I'll keep trying.

I believe those numbers represent the shift on which the engine/trans was built. So if the plant was running two shifts, the first day of the model year would build motors on shift one and two, on the second day 3 and 4, etc. Those numbers look about right for a late build car.
