Poor Little Honda CBR

I'm not sure why I never get to play with anyone when I'm in the GS but alas such is life.

Have about 450 miles on the new drive train in the Turbo Limited now, hooked up the new progressive alky kit over the weekend and thought it was time to see how far I could dial up the boost.
80 degrees and very dry air so I have the windows open.

Testing out on some back roads I could dial up 25# of boost on 93 octane with the new alky kit with only 3-4 degrees of knock retard. Oh Yea I like it!

So coming back to town I hit a red light and a Honda CBR (I'm assuming a 600 because he does not have that monster fat rear tire) pulls up next to me on the four lane.

He has no idea what I am and does not even look over.

He takes off fairly quickly and I leave with him and even pull him by a car. When my back bumper started to go past him he drops down a gear or two and gasses it. His engine screams as I floor the T and it goes back to first boost coming up, he pulls even with my door and looks over with this deer in the headlights look like how are you doing this? With full boost now I begin to pull ahead.

Now I have full boost; squeal second and really walk him much faster than I expect.

I hit third and 80 mph when I let off and he is 5-6 car lengths behind when he finally gives up.

It had to have been a 600. A 900 or 1000 should have stayed even or pulled me. I've run high 11's @ 115 mph on pump gas and the old single stage generic SMC alky with 21# boost with the old motor.

Seat of the pants the T feels faster on this new motor, tranny and progressive alky at 25# boost.

Next light he won't look over and we take off easy and I let him slide ahead and turn off at the next block.

I like this progressive alky system.

Love these stories! I have my SMC progressive 1/2 installed, ran out of time and summer:Dou:

Right now, I have 16lbs of boost and Zero knock and the thing is fast, can't wait until I can take it above 20 lbs!

I'd tune for Zero knock, any knock at that PSI will hurt something.

It is an SMC progressive alky spray but I do get some knock retard 3-4 degrees at 24-25# boost and have 50# fuel injectors. I normally run 22-23# boost so as not to get knock.

Remember a couple of degrees of knock at shift points is okay.

I am installing a second #15 spray nozzle in the alky spray so I can go to 25+# boost.

There are many Turbo cars running 10 teens and one I know of in the high nines on pump gas with these alky spray systems.

There is also a guy in Utah setting up our ECMs to back out the fuel curve and dial up the alky curve to completely eliminate knock on those low 10-high 9 second pump gas cars. After he's done you can program your own fuel curve through your OTC 4000 or some of these other scan systems we use.

I have his e-mail address and will be contacting him soon as I want to break into the 10's on pump gas too!

The downside to all this is I'm tearing little chunks out of my brand new Firestone Firehawks.
