Since LKB is the standard rear code for the 2 barrel that suggests you are correct but that 2.56 ratio was an option in the 4 barrel version. If your trans is an LA code as opposed to a MA code then I would say it stasted as a 2 barrel

    Don't forget...

Mistakes were made on the p-o-p's. I think Marco has a 71 stage 1 in the registry with a "TO" and "BB" or "OW" trans, plus Duane said he has seen MANY incorrect plates!

Get the casting date off the intake (just above the firing order. You should have a "C" date most likely), and the carb I.D. numbers & date (located near the linkage. Should be something like "7041544 MH 10xx").

I only look at the p-o-p as just another clue, but correct date coded parts hold a little more weight with me. :TU: :Do No:

The 078 is the day the rear was assembled, and the 3 stands for the month it was installed on the assembly line.

"12 4 8" are options. Notice no "3" (dual exhaust), so it probably was a 2 bbl. I don't recall what the 4 stood for, but the others are pwr steering, pwr brakes, & 8 = tape player.

"104 6161" These numbers tell the cars color and interior. I'd look them up, but I think your really after the engine stuff... :bglasses:
