I haven't posted in quite some time. I have been working a lot. Now I am quitting my job and taking a month off. I'm seriously thinking of painting my car. I don't want to do all the body work myself so I'm thinking of ways to do some of the work and still save money. The plan is to carefully strip all the old paint off with an orbital buffer along with the trim and interior panels so they don't get over spray. Then I will drive it to a body shop and let them go to town. I may paint it myself, is this a good idea? My father says that if they screw up the body work and the paint comes out bad then they have no liability if I paint it. This car is rust free. I repaired a rusted through right rear quarter panel (in front of the tire) a few years ago. That was the only significant rust on the car. The old paint is on thick and its chipped all over so I need to take the old stuff off first. I got quotes ranging from $1000 to $5000 to do paint and body work.
