  1. need to know about some pistons.. PLZ.?? part # L2431F. says they will fit buick 350 ( i have a 71 standard bore) pistons have 24.1cc cup which yeilds 8:1 compression ratio, bore size is 3.800. Will these work in my motor? bought them cheap. ( they are TRW forged) if they WILL work, what will it take to get my comp ratio back to at least 8.5:1 ???? every little help is greatful... thanx: This is what auction said ..... : Brand New Never Used set of forged pistons from TRW. Part # L2431F. STD in size for 231 or can be used in 350 Buicks. They have a 24.1cc cup, which yields a 8:1 compression ratio. Bore size is 3.800.

Most likely you will need to have the block decked - between zero and .005" in the hole is what you're shooting for. Not only is it best for power, but it actually lessens the tendency for detonation.

If I remember correctly, the 231 pistons have a slightly different pin height. After your block has been bored and honed, the shop should do a trial assembly to determine the piston to deck height.

Whatever they take off the deck, plus what is shaved off the heads, will need to be taken off the intake side of the head! You'll also need custom length or adjustable push rods to compensate for the differences too.
