piston help

    i am rebuilding my 350 right now..and why should i use forged pistons over stock ones....is there anything else i should go high performance over stock..cause i am doing a stock rebuild but if things are way more better in high performance like rings.etc..please let me know

    Kyle,

    The selection of Forged pistons are not as vast as they use to be.

    TRW use to make a forged piston for the Buick 350 but no longer do.

    However you can get a custom set of Weisco's from PAE at around $600 maybe more can't remmember exact price.

    Your next Step would be a hypereutetic piston. Which are still made by speed pro.

    or you can by a cast piston (similar to original equipment)

    Forged Piston can handle quite a bit of abuse such as nitrous and additional cylinder pressure.

    Hypereutetics Can handle a good load but not reccommended for nitrous use

    Cast - good piston but not as strong as above.

    Rings - Speed pro rings would probably be a good choice if your building a nice street motor.

    I have read a number of articles where nitrous was being used with Hyperutectics. Just keep it sane and watch for detonation!

    I was told cast pistons were 2nd to forged.
