How many splines are on an 8.2 pinion shaft??? Im looking for a pinion yoke for 1350 u-joints.

    Thanks, Michael

Hey Mike, Any particular reason for a 1350 series diff. yoke? A lot of overkill on an 8.2 rear end. Seems you'd spit the rear end out first. Stock Buick 3RL series will hold up under alot of beatings. A quality u-joint goes a long way. If your yoke is damaged or broke then it would make sence to try to upgrade if possible. I don't know of anyone making a 1350 yoke to fit the 8.2 spline. Mark Williams maybe? Do you have a source Jim? I don't remember any of the Spicer end yokes mating up with the 8.2's yoke dimensions. Just my .02

I tried Mark Williams but did not see one listed. I have a 1350 billet yoke for the tranny (4-speed very soon) and figured that if I'm going to re-do the driveshaft I might as well do both ends. A Moser 12 bolt is a ways off :ball: .

You could always have the shaft made in 1350 with a combination u-joint in the rear for now. Then when you change it out, that is after the Moser 12 Bolt, you won't have to put as much money into the shaft to alter it later. It will need shortened/balanced and one u-joint and not a rear weld yoke that will have to be cut out and be useless to you. Thats how I used to build them by planing ahead for future alterations to the car. Just a thought,Tim

Have built up numerous 8.5 A-body rears & aftermarket bolt-in axle 12 bolts with 3RL flanges that have held up very well to the rigors of heavy track use. All of these rears are in low 10 sec A-bodys... none of them weigh under 3780 lbs. For my '63 LeMans "streetcar", went with aftermarket 1350 flange, only because I expect the car to get into low 1.30 60 foot times & the 1350 flange is avail for the 8.5 pinion (Randy's Ring & Pinion).

Similiar pinion flange scenario for stick buildup... Finished a 30 spline Moser axled 8.5 A-body rear build about 6 weeks ago. Going in a '69 GTO. Though a 1350 flange is available for the 8.5, it was deemed unnecessary. The stock 8.5 flange (3LR) will holdup fine behind well built (480hp) E-headed 400 Pontiac. The GTO is also running a TKO600. Hope this helps.
