Well finally getting ready to actually check it and scale the car this week after I change rear springs. I'm running Southside lowers without dropdown brackets and Art Morrison adj uppers that I bought from Tom Rix and just put on with his adjustments, and the HR Parts-n-Stuff swaybar. Just wondering the desired pinion angle for my combo.

    Dangle angle of the pinion

    Todd:

Since it is still of the four link persuasion, the recommended pinion angle should still be 3 to 4 degrees down.

(edited to remove stupidity) (I don't know what I was thinking):eek2:

Good luck, and see you in Kearney!

Don't get caught up in "Pinion Angle affecting traction"......This is a common misconception.
Your instant center is what affects the "Hit" on the tires at the starting line.
You will want 2-3 degrees pinion angle but this should be in relation to the tailshaft of the transmission....Not the Driveshaft.

    Good article on this topic:

I checked it and I was at -5 degrees, evened up the uppers and put regular springs back in and I'm sitting at -4 degrees now. Adjusted the HR Parts-N- Stuff swaybar so there is 0 preload. If the weather permits I will be going to the track on Sunday.

OK, made a few adjustments after going to the track I put the Moroso springs back in, didn't like the cargo coil ride height or hook. Is this correct with the car on jackstands with suspension loaded my tailshaft is 6 degrees down and the pinion is 4 degrees up my understanding is this is 2 degrees pinion angle. When I went to the track the car just didn't seem like it transfered the weight like it did with the Moroso springs I spun real bad ended up with 10.77 @ 124.85 with 1.60 60' what I gained with the Super Sucker spacer went out the window because I wasn't able to use my ram-air (working on a new one now) and I spun. :3gears: Just a few last minute tweaks before BG.

Todd, i had the same issues with pinion angle. I broke a tailshaft housing in Norwalk. From my understanding, you DO NOT want the pinion up & the tranny down. Will create a bind in the driveline. You want both (tranny & pinion) in the same direction. Tranny shields etc prevent you from getting the trans up where it should be. (my situation) Usually, tailshafts are -4 or -5 from factory. I can give you more ideas if you wish, throw me a PM, like i said i had the same trouble recently. Randy
