Anyone have any pictures of their 70-72 skylark that has been lowered 2" in front and back. I was curious what is too low and what isn't from stock height. I am contemplating on lowering my skylark. Thanks
There are some pics in here of lowered Larks http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=215467&highlight=lowered
fromt what i notcied first hand along with what Ive read about on plenty forums. stock worn springs already sag an 1.5 to close to 2 inches.. Alot of people complain when they put a 1in drop say by hotchkis/global west that it actually raises the car up hahja 2 isnt a problem...many people do 2in drop springs with "gasp" 2in drop spindles and sometimes also with tall upper/lower balljoints(which also lower car a tad) the main things with dropping the car is if you have manifolds or headers? how low do youre headers sagg(my postons are probably the lowest 350 header available lo) If you want to be on the safe side cpp 1.5 drop springs all around will do you well, you can always go to a 2in or 3in drop next time around when worn if you desire :TU:
Classic Performance Parts 2" springs with thier shocks all the way around. 17x8 front and 18x8 rear wheels.
hell with my headers and hills and whatnot i'm still going 1.5 drop :beer i cant scrap/hit any worse then the worn stock setup
RCS603-4 rears 2" KY-1107D shocks FCS6330D front 1.5" KY-1000 shocks Car drives like its on rails No headers, dont need them for a cruiser unless you just like the sound of metal scraping the ground. Now if someone comes out with a real set of shorty headers i would consider them. Could also go with an coil conversion kit up front then you could dial in the exact ride height you want. How much is your car droped Mike?
mines factory dropped at the moment haha factory worn springs sagging more then an inch most likely with winter treaded 205-75-14s poston long tube headers summer time i have 275-60-15 and 245-60 15 fronts ..so with just the tire change is like a 2in drop rear and .5 drop in the front...so with drop springs and 265-50-15s I should be around the same ride height as my winter combo
Here's mine. I'll be honest... no idea how low she is. But I know my crossmember is less then two inches off the ground. When so many brothers are putting these things 30 feet in the air, it's nice to see them down and looking aggressive.
Mine has 2" dropped spindles front on stock springs and variable rate rear springs from a '79 Grand Prix
Wow, that looks awesome! Not sure what year it is, but that may be my favorite late 60's Lark/GS. Love it! :TU:
Here is a picture of mine with two inch drop coils from opgi.com in front and 110k mile springs in the rear.
Looks good! How does the car drive with the drop coils in the front and factory springs in the back? This is what I'm very tempted to do with my Lark.
it is a little bouncier in the back than I would like, proabably due to the old springs and shocks. I bought some new shocks and 1 inch dropped coils for the back and that is on the "winter project list" along with putting in a new rear end and gas tank.
LOL! I found this when looking for images for a "1969 Skylark." http://waywardgarage.com/FriendsRides/Matts1969Skylark/buick02.JPG Also, the head light buckets are different between '68 and '69 and that hood is definiely a '69, though not from a Skylark. I like it!
Here's a pic of my 70 GS. It has some saggy springs. I think it looks pretty cool. I'm afraid that when I put the new frame under it it won't look as cool. The frame has nothing to do with the lowered stance, just the springs. The Skylark on the other hand, sits high. I did it deliberately. I got tired of banging headers on the bumpy rural roads around here, so it got some new taller springs and tall tires (the rears are 235/75-15).
