I myself like all cars that are thoughtfully & craftully put together. The emphasis is putting on all the little details, which, in this case appears to be all of the above. Car looks to be pretty light weight looking at all the aluminum. My friend has his '66 Skylark GS that he bought new, weighs over 3100lbs. & runs, ready for this, a 401 +.030" NAILHEAD that has run, with no traction I may add, an 11.08ET @ 122MPH. 50+ less cubes, more weight, & once we get our traction issues solved will be as fast, if not faster. It can also be street driven & is legally registered to go to our local cruises with the exhaust on. Anything that can run 10's & still be street driven is an accomplishment, but do it with a NAILHEAD!!!!! Now your talkin' !!!!!!!!!!

Funny when they put a buick in a chevy its a great idea!!! :Dou: Doesnt relly make a difference whats under the hood people get on these boards for help and support not to get knocked about the choices they make thats what makes a people different. You might be suprised you could learn something from the guy.
As far as 86REGAL454 goes nice car if you ever decide to switch back to buick you will have a lot of help. dont worry bout the people hating on you or your car let them keep going most of them just mad cause that couldnt make it down the track at that speed

    I agree!
But I understand RATROASTER's point also and appreciate him being so civil about it. :TU:
86regal454,the car looks good and shows that it was built right. The numbers speak for themselves and it looks like a Buick to me.Are you using stock axles?
I joined the BCA recently after struggling for a while over this same issue,I would much rather see the Regal with the 454 than going to the crusher. The BCA has a modified division where this car will be welcomed altough not allowed for judging, due to the fact that the 454 was never offered on that model.A 455 wasn't offered either but it's a Buick powerplant and the car could be judged then.Myself,I don't care about judged competitions,I do like to see cars well built with performance as the theme.I think that if we are not careful, twenty years from now we'll be lucky to see any '86 V8 powered Buick at all at the street or the strip,IMHO. Perhaps the Board could consider following the BCA's lead and have some place for these modified cars, after all, other than the powerplant, they have to find a lot of Buick specific parts like the rest of us, and this seems to be the best place for it. :beer

I'm not big on the bbc...this shouldn't have been posted her...

But..... I'd like to post a POSITIVE comment.

NIce car guy! gotta give anybody kudo's, that can pull a wheel!

Sorry for the comments in this post. most are in line, and i agree with, but what should have happened.... is this getting moved to the bench.

I just get tired of every one thinking inside the box. buicks arn't the only motor on the block. You can run a ten with a F'n festiva if you got the bucks. Who give a s&*t. I do it because I prefer buick in my buick.

somebody goes off on a rant because they couldn't spend extra money to put expensive buick rockers on the new edelborck heads. WHY... they pull ed their head out of their a$$ and did something smmart for once. the product is already out here and CHEAP. why not who's going to see. some of this just stupidity.

Thanks for posting pictures of your car. We hope to kick your but at the track with our Buicks soon :moonu:

BTW... DO the right thing and just move this thread and and dump every post but his pictures :Dou:

This thread should be moved. I am not sure where maybe to members rides or something. I like his car and respect the fact that its clean & fast. I would like it even better if he had spent the extra money to build it just as clean & fast useing a Buick 455 or even something other than another follow the herd ho hum Chevy. None the less if hes satisfied with it I'm ok with that. I also like and respect what he has done more than if it was clean & slow with stock Buick 3.8.

What I do take offence to is that he came here to our little corner of the web marked V8 Buick powered Regals on a Buick site to stick his Chevy powered Buick Regal in our face. If you want to come on here and talk Regal body pannels or suspension or whatever great you are welcome. If I went to montecarloss.com to brag about my Buick powered MCSS I would not expect a warm reception. Does this make sense to you 86Regal454?

Boy i just love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How is he rubbing it in your face? This is why drag racing is falling to the waist side for many people. The guy comes on hear feeling good about his car and you knock him for his choices. He used what his money could buy!! Damn is that a crime? :af: Like i said if your cars were faster than his you would be all over him.. If it wasnt for the fact i had lots of help with my 455 i would have dumped it a long time ago. You want to know why people steer away from buicks because people tell them they need tons of stuff to go fast which isnt true. could he have built a 455 yes but he probably was told you need a $10,000 buick to go fast. I see it all tha time on here. If you dont like what you see back out tha thread you dont have to make him feel like he made a bad chioce.

Hey 86 i wa swondering if you had a chance to weigh your car to see how much it weigh?? Did you keep the stock interior in tha vehicle How streetable is tha motor ??? And if your ever in chicago dont worry that buick i got got alot more in it for that chevy of yours :TU:

Dan, I'm sure ghost engines aren't known for their power, but I'm sure they get excellent fuel mileage. :)

Bigdawg, I think you need to re-read the post you copied.
How is he rubbing it in our faces? (So to speak) By posting it here in a Buick site in a section specifically set aside and titled for V8 Buick powered Regals. Plain and simple.

If you put your Buick 455 or Ford 460 or other in as an example a MCSS then went to a Chevy site and posted it in a section titled Chevy powered Monte Carlo SS do you think you would get a warm supportive reception or be seen as a troll? Neither did he. Looks to me like he came as a troll.

"He used what his money could buy!! Damn is that a crime" :af: Nope not at all. I don't fault him a bit for that and I never knocked his car or his choice.

At the end the day its just a hobby and I am not going to stress over it. Happy motoring. :3gears:

    no hard feelings

Vern you said it best its just a hobby and every1 can do what they want!! Depending how yo look at that name of the section it may not always be so clear he may just have read it as buick powered regal wit V-8 thats how i use to see it. This is not the first or last time it will be misinterpreted. And i have been on other sites and have talked about my regal before and no one knocked my choice of motors. There is a thread going on right no in the bench section about. Having class on this board and all its says was there are better ways to say and do things than what has been going on. All im saying is if someone comes to the board they should be wlecomed and not blasted for there desicion.

This forum has been interresting to say the least and maybe something can be learned from it. It was mentioned about having a forum for modifided Buicks, why not! It is a Buick and it is GM powered and comes to a Buick site and gets bashed??? Nobody gets upset when you stick a Ford rear end under one. The Buick performace Group is letting Buicks particapate - food for thought. I also think its funny that just because of my user name I am one of those guys. I love Buicks and have had a few. I just sold my GS (SEE PIC) and working on another buick. Topher I ran a 4" glass hood but went back to the stock look, here is a pic and have a few more if interrested. Enough said - I hope everyone has a good holiday.
