Very nice car for $800!!! Solid floors and trunk are a MAJOR plus! Looking good! Maybe u can paint the inner wheels wells black or undercoat it black so those wheels will pop!
Seee....it's looking great and you are on the short route to cools-ville without a zillion dollars and years of no-fun!
I was drag ass tired today so took alot longer to get done what I wanted to do. I am no spring chicken anymore. The front end is a little rough, lots of bents stuff, unsalvagable stuff, and such. I did make a rusty old rally well look like new and badass with some steel wool, elbow grease, and rattle can black, now I gotta do 3 more rims. It seams like every window has a broken something that keeps it from going down, and I brought the grille home to give it attention. the tear down. rim after I shined it but before paint. after paint with a pro star
X2 on the first gen Rivieras being one of, if not the most beautiful factory-built cars ever made.:TU: Bob H.
I went to the KC Auto Auction a couple week ends ago. I saw a restored green one go for just under $40K, just to give you an idea of what it can bring restored.
Slingblade44, You got my attention, I feel certian you will get this car standing tall, I can tell from the work you have already done that you are more action than talk. Also I have learned from this thread, I did not know that 1st generation Rivera's had bolt on door skins. Keep on updateing us on your progress. I think you are progressing quite well. Best of luck to you. Chas.
Ok here is what I did with some fine wire wool and a 3 dollar can of paint and some painters tape. Wire wooled the head light cover, then taped off the ribs I wanted shiney and painted the whole thing with a semi gloss black. I think they came out awesome.
Gah! That is beautiful! I am getting jealous...:TU: Was it a very thin tape you put on the ribs (like what is used to lay out flames)?
When you finish the car, you need to go find the kid with the Mustang and do a burnout in front of him in his dads car. I wish they would have kept that design for the 66-67 Riviera's.
Please post an update on this car, it is a very inspiring build, especially coming from saying you don't know where to start because apparently you do!:TU:
