It was a beautiful day here in Vancouver...68 degrees and nice and sunny. Chris came over from Victoria for a test and tune. Here's pics of his first three runs. I wish I knew how to put a bunch of pics in one post. Oh well....run #1
Run #3 time...he didn't make 9's while I was there but you never know...Chris let us know if you did!
I just love seeing 10" of tire squatting in the back...... with both front tires hanging helplessly in the air!! :TU:
Can't believe Mission is open already and our track still has the snow sitting on it. Time to move back to the left coast. Chris, how's those heads comin? Pictures like that just make me wanna put that thing back together and trailer to the coast. Tom
Hey Harvey, aside from the awesome display of power that Chris is giving us, kudos goes to you for your perfect timing in snapping the shutter! Very nice pics. Oh, and #2 is magazine worthy. Rick? I suggest you glean that for the next Build Sheet! #1 is also sweet. Interesting how a 2 ton Buick is almost 2 feet in the air and that ultralight pinto can barely show daylight.
pinto pic Hi Harvey, It was a pleasure to finally meet you. Sorry I couldn't spend more time talking with you but in between runs I managed to check out your convert and it was some good eye candy. Don't have much time right now so I'll make it brief, considering it was just out of the box, I guess the results were ok. The car was consistant but fell short of my goal of running 9's. I got rained out on Sunday but got 5 passes in on Saturday. I'll list my 5 passes in order #1 et 10.254@127.73mph, #2 et 10.244@127.28mph, #3 I removed the air cleaner element, the 60fts went up from 1.38 on the previous 2 runs to 1.40 60ft but et was 10.22@128.73mph, #4 et 10.231@128.64mph, #5 et 10.244@128.16mph. Bottom line when we built the torque convertor we missed the boat which is hard to say because that's what we do for a living but I think the engine has more kahunas then I planned. Mph is low for the RPM that I was going thru the traps at. I run a 29.5/10.5/15w Mickey with a 410 gear and I was going thru the trap at 6700RPM. It was stalling on the trans brake at 5700RPM, way above peak torque. Over all, considering I put the headlights, the carpets and a few other odds and ends back in the car to get ready for the street car shoot out I think it did well. Hopefully in 2 weeks I'll be able to test the new torque convertor and come with that 9 sec time slip. By the way the engine is still the iron headed stage 1 engine with standard stroke, stock rods, flat top piston, TA 308s cam, TA 2in headers, new TA SP1, HP holley carb. So much for keeping it brief. Thanks Harvey for the great pictures....Chris
