Hi all just dropped a 401 nailhead with st400 (less Yoke) into a 62 lesabre the tag says
    b SUPER TURBINE 400 R

so the original non running 401 & dyna flow where yanked .
so here is my question will the yoke from the danya flow
work on the st400 i'm guessing no.

So I need a yoke to fit the st400 will any other yoke work ie tubro 400 etc

thanks in advance for any help

    cheers Will

No, the Dynaflow yoke is totally different.

I sourced an original yoke from a Riv. It was unusable, however the driveshaft shop come up with an identical part, which I think cross referenced to a 70-80's Chevy 4x4 pickup.

I can look at what else I did for the swap if your interested. The original driveshaft also had to be shortened about 5in.

yes plz any info will help, yeah i thought there must be a yoke that would work from a chevy trans

  12. Most important is to get a yoke that fits the ST400. Don't worry about what it goes to because you can get a universal to make it fit what ever you want on the driveshaft side.

For the driveshaft, I had my stock unit rebuilt, and had the front portion shortened a total of 5in.

I used a trans crossmember from a '64 Wildcat, although a crossmember from any fullsize x-framed ST400 equipped car should work. Another option would be to simply use the original Dynaflow crossmember, and just shorten it so it fits farther back in the frame.

I ended up switching to a Hurst floor shifter, so I can't comment on using the original column shifter. But I do know the stock linkage wouldn't work. And since I'm running a manual valve body, I didn't have to deal with the kickdown switch. And for the switch pitch, I just wired mine to a toggle switch.

Also, your going to have to get rid of the factory e-brake mechanism.

Thanks Andy this info helps. I saw trans mount from 65 Riv but I thought that the frame is different
    the 65 wildcat makes sense

she is now running with 65 riv 401 installed and st400 trans ,matt made a new trans mount. drive line was cut balanced and installed with the st400 yoke and 62 drive.

new dual exhaust is going on, spring and shock are new and installed. so going to bags

    Upgrading the brakes
rather than trying to make some parts work from a later model I went with a new booster and dual master thats a bolt on set up for drum drum.
I was thinking of swaping out the front drum to disc but for now there staying.. fyi I live in the sf bay area at the top of a very long steep hill

Nice patch work. Hope mine turns out half that good! My rust is on the same area (right front), but mine was caused by leaking heater core. What is that metallic material you used to line the entire floor with? Kind of looks like aluminum foil.
