    Need a favor.....

With all the technology that's out there today, there must be some way to clean up old photos, right?

I have a few older pics (about 8 years old) of my old red car that I'd like to have "restored", if you will, and I was wondering if anyone out there who's well versed in Photoshop, or any other photo editing programs, can clean them up for me...or at least make an attempt???

If you're willing to tackle this, shoot me an email (below in signature) and I'll send you the picture or pictures. Then you can decide if you want to have at it or not....

Any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks! :TU:

Post them here, give everybody a change to take a look at your car, and if people want to photoshop they can do it!

    Trevor,

I thought about that but they're very high resolution and some, if not most, of the quality would be lost if I had to reduce the file size to post them...

This pic is tough. Once its blown up to 100% you can see all of the blur. I gave it a shot and it didnt come out much better at all.

Its more than just being blurry - there is some severe grain in this photo almost like it was on cloth and scanned in.

How does the original photo look? Or was this taken with an older digital camera?

IF it was scanned, I'd suggest having a high quality scan made of the original photo and then having us try again.

Here was my attempt - not much you can do about the type of noise that was present in this photo

Any more noise reduction and the photo looks too creamy...

Looks like the camera and photographer were being shaken, doesn't it?

You don't need a photo restorer, you need an artist to manually define the pixels that are causing the blur. I have editted some pics for my own use, pixel by pixel, and to 'fix' that photo...well, it would be a gargantuan effort, in my opinion

There is definitely motion blur... the camera was shaking, However, not enough to be unfixable. The problem is the grain of the photo.

Here is a 100% crop of the original so you can see what I mean.

First off, thanks for everyone's effort.

That picture was taken on an overcast day and as you can see there was some motion (I think my father was moving) during the time the picture was taken.....not too good of and "action" shot, huh??

The actual picture (I have here) is very similar to the original that's been posted a couple times already (in this thread) and that too looks as though someone was moving when it was taken (obviously)....I don't know what other options I have. I guess I could take a really high resolution scan and try to send it...

Wouldn't that file be way too big to send via email?? :Do No:

    EEE Straight out of lo-cash!

I think a shaky photo will remain a shaky photo, you can try and adjust it, but it will be incredibly hard to get it to look like it wasn't shaking. There'll be some kind of distortion no matter how you tweak it. I'd say, next time put it on a tripod if there's not enough light to shoot with a fast shutterspeed. If you've got a 200mm+ lens, then a tripod is a must to get a crisp pic.

The high res scan probably wouldnt be too big to get into my email - I have a 10MB limit on file transfers

I disagree with the 200+mm lens and tripod neccesary to get a crisp photo... Then again, what do I know?

If its windy or anything along those lines, or if you're not experienced using a camera, then people will tend to push way too hard on the shutter, causing that motion blur. Plus, if it was a windy day and he was standing on not-so-sturdy bleachers...
