i could probably do it if you want... the maoin problem though is that all the reflections will be wrong..
do you have a picture for the background already?
is that the final size or do you have a larger image that you want to print out eventually... if I get some time this week and someone hasnt already done so I may try and knock something up for you...

thats the final size, and unfortunately i have no other picture to use. Ill probably be printing it out and framing it in my room, doesnt need to look very professional.

Here's a copy with most of the background removed, although the edges could use some finishing. It's tough removing the background where there are shadows flanked by black tires. I also have this as a .psd file that's already transparent if someone wants to email me to get it.

The cars are a little close to make it a dragstrip scene. But, with them as I have them, they could be separated if someone has a decent head-on shot.

heh, i know this is nothing like you asked for...but i was just playing around and knocked this out in about 15 or so minutes. i suppose i could try the country road, but i saw this background and i though it looked way cooler. hopefully this is used as a sig...because if you try and get print made of it...its gonna me pixilated as hell at only 72dpi (low res). let me know what you guys think

eh, i tried those with that background, the lighting is just too harsh. the only reason i could make the other shot work was the cars were shaded. all of the ones you provided were open lighting on a bright day. ill look at some other backdrops later, but im bushed..so off to bed in preperation for another day of classes.

    Rick,

Do you have the full version of photoshop? I'm not sure that the LE version allows the use of layers.

I use the magic wand too to select away the background mess, then I copy the cars to a new layer. It was really tough with the shadows and the car colors though. It would be best had the photos been take in front of a very contrasting background with lots of lighting to distinguish the car from the background.

meh, dont feel at all bad guys. im a photography major and iv had like 2 years worth of photoshop...so its not like im just naturally talented. full versio or not, you could have easily done what i did. oh, and BTW i HATE the magic wand...polygon laso tool ownz me. the one tools i used was the poly for cutouts, the clone stamp, lighting effects filter, burn tool, line tool, levels layers, and the resize tool.

Do you use the magnetic polygon tool? If so, did you have to change the tolerance in the low contrast areas? I had to keep changing the magic wand's tolerance level to deal with those areas.

I'd prefer freehand, but I'd need a much larger photo that I could enlarge. I used the rubber stamp tool to add rear tires in the one photo. I'm still using version 5.0 at home. I've got CS at work, where there is a lot less latitude in the tools available (forensic purposes).

nope, i just use the plain poly lasso tool. but them again, im using PS 6, 7, and CS. i haven ever used 5. the nice thing about the poly lasso tool, is that if you choose to do so, i can sense contrast and "help" you around curves and whatnot, or you can override it. its all in how you work the tool in the photograph. my instructors all have a hard-on for the pen tool, i say it sucks just as bad as the magic wand. IMO i can do a much cleaner job with a poly tool.
