Moleary and others have shown interest in a Car Photo Gallery.

Here are many options for this feature. It would take some time to research and test.

Would it be worth the time?
Are people interested in posting pictures ans discription of their cars in a gallery format?

Personally I use a number of other services that offer this for free. My favourite is <a href="http://www.google.com/picasa/">Google's Picasa</a> as it's an offline tool for organizing your images as well as a free web album.

Using something outside of V8Buick.com means that we don't overload your servers and bandwith (images are hell).

On the flip side it also means that it's a bit more complicated to integrate into the posts.

It would be nice, but extra work for you guys. Also, would it slow down the now smoking V8?

I dont think we need a photo gallery, there are several stickies already on the boad for member's rides and such. And i think we fare pretty well with posting pix up on threads. However, it would be interesting to have a "my garage" type of thing, where people could upload pictures, and maybe vote for a ride of the month sort of thing?

In the end, i dont think we need one, though, for the same reasons mentioned above. More work for you guys, and slower site speed.

I think the intention is great, and it goes to show that the customer service side of the board is top shelf. However, I do not see the need to spend valuable time and resources reinventing the wheel when there are so many medium already set up that a simple link takes care of.

    My vote is NO.

    Thanks, MarkO

I agree. We already have a "members rides" area. Will the new "photo gallery" take up additional bandwith and slow down this website's "new found" speed? If so, I'd have to vote "no" on it's addition. If not and it's implemented then I'd have to guess that the "members rides" would be eliminated? If "Photo Gallery" becomes a reality, will it be sectioned into year and model classification to make it easier to navigate? Thanks. Jim:cool:

    Mixed emotions -
If it means a whole lot of extra work and slows the site down, I think not.
Members' rides does cover most of the guys who want pics of thier rides up,
but maybe it could be a little more organized by year and models ?
As was stated: most members have a web hosting site, and it does conserve valueable space, besides it would mean spending more time perusing pics ! :TU:

Maybe a photo section in which every model / year is represented 1 time in lets say 5 or 10 photos of the same car (window sticker scan included?)... with some strict rules it could be a very good "encyclopaedia"

I think the members ride section is nice, but how many times does someone ask for a paticular color, model number, etc? In the members ride section you have to start paging through one page at a time. Then the pictures get side tracked by comments. Not that comments are bad, but it adds up to more pages without pictures.

I'd like to say, "Show me all Green 1970" or "1969 Stage cars" or "4 Speed Cars" is this possible? I think it would add a lot to this already wonderful site:TU:

    BTW, the upgrade is:TU:

    My 2 cents.

    Thanks,

    Rich

It's a nice idea, but JW already puts a lot into this site. A photo gallery would cost a lot in bandwidth. Plus added administration.

It would definitely need to have some serious restrictions on the amount that is posted.

I think a photo gallery would be a great idea myself. What I was thinking was a list of each year and the best photo availible of each factory color combo and one for custom colors if that is wanted as well. Example 70 GS code 10 White no top, code 10 white w/black top,70 code 10 w/brown top ect on down the line.If a better pic becomes availible remove the one it replaces so as not to use up a lot of bandwith as we don't need 10 pics of white 70 GS with chrome Buick wheels in this thread,no car owner names listed so no one becomes upset when thier pic gets removed. This way if someone wants to see what their car's color combo would look like fresh their is a place to go and see it for each year GS.It is asked for a lot by folks on the board all the time and I think it would be a super popular thread over time.:TU:

I like the idea and voted for it.I particulary like some that I have visited where one just click on the year or model and every member's car for that year/model is shown.Minimal wording, just pictures,it will make for a good research tool.Just my opinion.

    Ponch,
I would agree if the post have pictures. Some threads are so old that people will never find them again, so what's the need? Now, if I would only take the time to do it myself.

I would gladly remove old posts, if there were an easy way:Do No:

It would be nice if I could go to all posts started by me, be able to check a box next to the thread to delete it.

    Is there an easy way?

I'm a newbie to your boards here, but I always do a lot of research on different boards like this one. Your old posts with questions and answers are a new readers gold mine. The search tool opens up all of those old conversations which can get new readers out of many jams. Please don't delete them, the text messages don't use up much bandwith at all. the longer a forum lasts the better it gets.
