Saw a few posts about people being burned by board member's, the 'Buick member's not helping me out', etc.... So I thought I would start a post about the 'pay it forward' success stories of recent. Please, share your POSITIVE stories and please leave the negatives for the 'buyer feedback'. 1. Member was kind enough to send 1968-1969 belt reveal stainless moldings, complete set- free (including shipping)Tom W aka GASOLINE 2. A very clean, ROT FREE passenger side inner fender for a 1968-1969 Buick was traded for a 1969 GS 400 fan shroud. Each picked up their own shipping. Rich Gaber- 54rich 3. Several years ago, a member (China Mike, now MMullen) sent a member a workable sport wheel. Since it was not used by that member for over several years, that member sent it to another for FREE. 4. A member (Alan W- 69gs400s) has been helping out a few other members with items such as complete tinted glass, directionals, etc. Again, I am just scratching the surface. I can say - without ANY hesitation- that the members have been nothing but helpful. Anytime I have had a problem, needed a part, advice, etc, the members here were simply a phone call away. The members here are the biggest reason why I continue to purchase and own Buicks (if not, I would be in a GTO in a second:grin: ).
CArbineone (Bruce) send me a brake spring that was holding me back from finishing my drum setup. Excellent member!! Oh and it was Free of course!! :TU: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=136626
Gave away a 350 engine and got a 8.5 rear I posted a free engine out of a 1970 Skylark Custom 350-4 for anyone that could pick it up. Tom Willisford (Gasoline now , used to be Boost), from over around Atlanta wanted the engine, he asked what kind of parts I could use and I told him I was going to eventually swap the rear in my 70GS455 to a 8.5. When he came to get the engine he brought me a 8.5 out of a 71 Skylark. Thanks Tom. Bert
Re: 'Pay it Forward' success stories.... here's mine A few years ago, Yardley (Jeff) sent me one set of rear window rubber seals for free. He even paid the shipping.:TU: He had inadvertently ordered two sets for his Riv, and since they also fit 64-65 Skylarks, I grabbed them for my now sold convert. If I don't use them on my 65, I'll gift them to someone else. This type of generosity from someone I have yet to meet in person, has given me the same desire to help out others. (which I have, just not going to sound my own horn)
Jim Rodgers replied to my parts wanted ad for seatbelts. He PMed me and said he needed a shipping address, I assumed he was going to give me a cost with shipping. He sent me the seatbelts on his dime, wouldn't even let me pay him for shipping. When I run into him at a Buick event, I'm going to have to feed him a few beers.
wolverine sent me some long white armrest for a 1970. I was able to get him a glovebox and H Clips. Will always help him if I can.:TU:
I cannot remember who gave me this but I did thank him.If the member who gave this to me sees this let me know who you are and if you do not want it back let me know and I will give to someone else.I have since found a Tach to fill the void in my 4 speed console and no longer need this.......Bruce
I just got back into Buicks with the purchase of Dan Shumsky's (Floydsbuick) former '80 LeSabre this summer. While the car wasn't free, Dan helped me out with the price, and worked out a great deal for me. He also threw in a free 200-4R, and a few extra spare parts. While I was down in PA picking up the car, Don Eggers (fastest430) gave me a free '72 350-2. Having gotten the car home, I needed a y-pipe for a 350, and jimmy (from NC) sent me a nice, solid piece for only the cost of shipping! Thanks to all you guys for helping me out!
That would be me Bruce, please pass it on to the next guy as I have a decent one in my car and Julie's car is an auto.
Hey Eddie, yes it was you.I already gave it to Pete, known as Bad News here on the board. He is glad to have it and I am sure he thanks you as well....Bruce
