wow. can't believe the reactions here. the shop did a halfway decent job. they straightened the body and shot it in flat black. zero body mods, replaced the stupid buckets with a stock seat. Didn't strip, shave, mutilate anything. even left all the buick emblems on. How many people here have thrown out all the trim on a 69 skylark? They only scotch brited it, which is fixable. Those rotten basterds. for the love of god, there is at least a dozen blacked out cars on this board. did that shop do 7k worth of work? who knows, but that car had alot of dents, dings and rust spots. not to mention they probably fixed alot of stuff that cheese dick kid "fixed." That guy did say he went through the motor. what ever that means. Why the atitude from anyone?
They will sell that car to a fan of the show for a large profit , or it might end up at Barrett-Jackson , but they will not lose on that car .:beers2: Chuck

I was hoping that Chumley would bust out a "right tire fryer" as he left the shop to piss off Corey. The drive thru was a nice touch though :grin:
The car turned out nice but satin black? 7k for satin black? Had they done a nice redo of the original color and a cut-n-buff it would have looked stunning!
The car probably had a 2.56 rear, 2 speed auto and a 350 2 bbl (muscle car ) with over 100K on it. A right tire fryer might be asking too much especially with Chumleys fat butt weighing it down.
I saw this episode last night also. I think the "dude's" estimate of $13-14K is also a bit optomistic. They might find someone to give them $10K if they wait. Then it's just a break-even proposition for them. I love this show. Bring me your stuff, we have an expert appraise it. Now let's see how little I can talk you into selling it for.
I wonder why when hearing what something is worth, more folks don't try to sell things themselves. I would think their offer would stand. Could just be TV as well.

There is a lot of negative talk about what they did to the car but I think we're all a little biased. We know the true potential of that car was not realized. The interior was ok with the bench seat, looked fine to me. But we all know if the trim was polished and it was painted a gloss black/blue/red/silver with some Buick rally wheels and white letter tires??? that would have been sweet(er)! And shown the shown the un-buick-educated car guys out there how good one can look!:beers2:
Why the attitude? I love that show but it is the same show that "restored" an old coke machine by showing us a different restored coke machine. I wish every car was satin black so I could do all of my bondo work with a DA. If that car was straight enough to paint gloss black then I could see 7 grand. As is, no @#$#$ way. watched the show less than impressed with the skylark i think the body guy burnt them. i noticed a dent in the grills teeth after the end it was still there at the end. sorry but a flat black paint and new seat is not 5-7k of work.
