I will be there soon after this next big snow storm hits and the roads dry out . I have to go to Massachusetts but will be staying at my uncle's place which is a few miles from Criswell's. I can PM you my number before I head up in case you can't make a connection.

If I am understading you right the "blue full setup" were the airbags correct? If that was out of the "wild blue yonder" you just disabled probably the last "76" that had airbags in it as only 6 Rivieras came out of the factory that year unless this a duece you are talking about which may have been less. Oh well live and let live.

Hi Junkman - I called the people at Criswell's a few times but they never got back to me. I guess they are waiting for spring. Instead I ran across a guy in the forum here who has better air bags, steering column, crash sensor harness and associated parts. He is in North Carolina and I am going there this Friday to get everything. i may want to buy that car in the future from Criswell's rather than break up an airbag car we will have to see. I'll let you know how I make out.

    Thanks,

    John

I believe that '74 is pretty rough but the airbag stuff looked good. I'll be checking in there next weekend.

Hi there I hope all is well. I assume you got my other e-mail about the guy in North Carolina. He has a set of airbags from a Olds 98 that he is selling me. I may want to buy that Riviera in Pennsy would hate to break up an airbag car. I'll let you know how I make out.

To answer all of you I am going to check with a few people from The Riviera's Association tomorrow and settle this once and for all. I know what I have an older man owned this car and he was not likely to add anything to it but we will see. There is man there who I am told knows 73 and 74 in and out. I will get back to you when I have some answers.

    Thank you,

    John

When all the snow is gone I will take a ride to Criswell's and see if they still have the car. The airbags I got from the guy in North Carolina are good but driver's side says Oldsmobile on it and has an indentation where the little chrome piece sits so I can't get away with that. I am buying a lot of parts NOS mostly off Ebay and today I found a guy with the correct headlights and another guy with an NOS chrome cover for the air cleaner. You should see the passenger side airbag it is huge and weighs about 60 lbs. That one will work in my car. I am hoping to get the car in the garage soon and get going on it. I also have to take a ride to Rockford, IL. to see about the donor car I am buying. I have to get a locksmith to make new keys, air up the tires, and put a new battery in it to get it running. I have also found a new very rare battery a RF91 which is the original battery. The seller has had it a long time so they are going to put acid in it then charge it and if it holds a charge I will pick it up at Carlisle. I have never been to Carlisle so it will be interesting.

    Hope to talk to you,

    John

If you are a ROA member (Rivieras Owners Association) you can go to their website and open where it says for members only. Put in 1974 Buick Riviera and it will give you all the options with pricing there. You will see Max-Trac listed there for $92.00 plus change. According to this ROA technical adviser you could get Max-Trac with the Stage 1 engine and electronic ignition. Unfortunately he does not know how it works with the electronic ignition. Max-Trac was made from 71-74 and it was a troublesome system. He told me they dropped in early 74 and only 5 cars came out with Max-Trac so I probably have the last car.

    Thanks to all,

    John
