Does anybody have any comments on parchment dye for spraying seats and door panels? I'm contemplating doing this on my original Wildcat interior. Mine has some yellowing areas that I can't seem to clean up.

    thanx, Jim

    They should have it.

I would suggest doing the whole interior because you may have some sun fading/aging and the newly dyed areas will make the undyed areas stand out.
You can get SEM products from any Sherwin-Williams Auto Body Supply Store for about $7-8/can.

Do a test on a kick panel first to check for color match.

Use some RM901 Pre-Kleano to remove all grease/vinyl protectorants to have a nice, clean surface for the dye to adhere.

I don't think the dye will last on the seating areas because of the constant abrasion wear. You can try and see what happens.

SEM is a great product. I use it regurally for recolor. Do not use it on seats as it will wear off. Hint: wipe the areas to color with laquer thinner to clean and make a better bonding surface. Don't soak with laquer thinner just wipe down .

I plan to use it on the seats, door panels and conv top boot cover.

  6. sem vinyl color vs Dupont mastertint color.

you should be able to find a dupont paint distribtor in the yellow pages under automitive paint supplies.most of the time sem is only available in spraycans. they do intermix custom colors but... hard to find a jobber how does.however dupont mstertint vinyl color is easy to find and will outlast semand can be made in any color under the rainbow.however it does need to be sprayed with a spray gun.we use to use sem but our jobber introduced us to dupont and it works very well.also you should use an adhesion promotor for plastics (such as bulldog or sems flexable bonding clear)I have painted rear seats on our 442 two years ago and there still holding up great.sem is a modified lacquer product and dupont mastertint is a eurthane.(much stronger)one pint of dupont color will do what three spray cans will do.(one qt will do a complete interior on most cars). any good dupont automotive paint jobber can match your vinyl :TU:

This is real good info, just what I was looking for...

has anybody done this yet on parchment pearl interior with success??

My ORIGINAL interior is in PERFECT condition, but has some yellowing on some of the top edges, from age I guess...

Assuming I strip the interior out of the car, what would a job like this cost??
