Yesterday Built 4 poly walls, cleaned garage real good ,got heat ,ready to go.Lot of preparation on body and taping off since chassis is completed and don't want to get over spray. The gold conv. painted recently turned out excellent and I even went through more preparation then before.I will post pictures tonight or in morning of final paint job Later Mike
Now have paint finished 4-5 coats no issues anywhere  Yea Gonna get clear on in little while. The original color was green (didn't like it)so went with a Riviera 1966 silver mist seen it on car this summer and was amazed by it.Was gonna go 1967 Platinum mist but it was a little to grey and not silvery enough if that makes sense. Here is a picture of gold mist car painted this last summer (orig. color)4-spd. still putting it back together now that its painted
Looks Exellent. Can't wait to see it with the clear. My freind just painted a car outside. Base/clear. He says when ever he sprays the clear inside it clings to the dirt on the ceiling and drops on the car. I don't know how true it is but thought I'd throw it in. Ray
man I do love the 67s and wish I still had mine, I'm a hardtop man though. Nice choice on that silver!
Got clear on last night (expensive $350) PPG Concept DCU2021 -Very good stuff.Woke up this morning and cleaned up garage and car.Gonna get back on hard tops now while putting both conv. together.Gonna try to have hard top done by summer(painted) and Post GS by fall .Just getting started on 3rd. GS conv. (blue with white top original colors)Getting excited now that getting few completed (lot of work but makes me happy) Here are some pictures :kodak: Later Mike
Hey Mike, I have a folder on my computer that I started last year called "Inspiration". In it is a sub-folder called "Flint 67" where I have saved all the pictures of your gold GS. Now I have to add all the silver pictures! You're killing me! I saw you reply to a post for a pair of '67 fenders. If you end up with a useable driver's side dogleg, shoot me a pm please. Best Wishes,
I am so jealous. I am still building my 67 gs vert and have been in a quandry. I always thought the car would look better without the big brake vent mouldings(is that what they are?) on the rear of the fenders. After looking at your car pre-moulding installation, I am dead on sure I like that look better. Am I a sinner if I go this route? I am making mine a driver and not show quality. thoughts. Anyway, those are awesome looking. I can only wish mine turns out that well. Tom:TU: :TU: :TU: :TU: :TU: :TU: :TU: :TU:
Mike looks great hope your arms are in good shape that stuff gets hard fast good clear.Silver gs's rock.
where did you get your fresh air supply from? is the box fan in the pic the only fan for exhaust? I ask because I will be doing the same thing.I was planning on cutting 2-2'x2' holes in the ceiling ,covering them with furnace filters/grilles,and using 4-6 box fans that the garage door would rest on .Any thoughts ?
Put the 4 plastic walls up and put 16" x 16" furnace Wire type filter in the wall :kodak: had heat outside paint area.Small fan in window to draw paint fog out and it sucked heat into paint area.Constantly wet down paint area to keep dirt and dust away(floors and walls). The 1st. convertible was painted in summer and we used bigger fan to draw fog out- but this silver car was painted now with temp. in 40s had to use smaller fan so as not to suck all heat away but had much more fog when painting(harder to see)Finishing up wet sanding and wheeling out tonight-gonna have around 30 hours to complete. The very few minor dust or dirt has 100% wet sanded out I will try to post pictures later today of finished paint but it will be pictures in garage (raining out today) Later
Geeze....that looks NICE!:TU: What paint system did you use, and did you use any special technique to apply the silver evenly (like a final mist coat). P.S. My gold 66 is in primer, and my silver one will get painted in the future...it's now a 67 Platinum mist. Thanks for the inspiration!
