Installing a new legendary package tray in my X. Do these ends get scored and bent up so they tuck in behind the sail panels?

I installed that package tray, years ago, in my '72 GS but do not remember having to trim anything.

That sounds familiar-to fold behind sail panels.

I believe so...and from what I have experienced with previous package tray installs, you have to trim the back edge to fit as well.

Ha! Yes you do. It's definitely too wide

That's exactly what I did. I used the original as a pattern, and tucked the ends behind the sail panels.

I unfortunately can't go by the one in the car.
