Ive parted dozens of 70-72 sky/gs In the northeast . never came across a textured eggshell corner trim. Not saying there not out there but never seen one until now. Hens teeth?
Here's a set of the textured versions that I had for sale on here a while back . . . . . (and still have here) And here's a "normal" set that are NOT Textured . . . . And here are the current TPP Reproductions . . . . To add some more confusion to this . . . . The Part Number on the Textured Versions I have here is 7717602 /03 (For the other side) The Part Number on the Smooth Ones I have here is 7717602 / 03 (For the other side) So SAME part number on both of the original GM Pcs !!!! ( I can post pics if needed )
The textured corners could really have be from GTO, 442, Chevelle. The package tray area and roofline are basically the same.
I know the Oldsmobiles were different and think the Chevelles were different as well. I always thought the 68-72 Buick pieces were unique. They were always marketed that way. Duane
If you check out the #8 post and go to the link, you will see what the grain pattern looked like in the original "Textured" pieces. They did a really fine job of making nicely cast parts. It's a shame they didn't reproduce the smooth style, which is the way most of the cars came. Also, do not confuse the repro parts above with others that are reproducing them. TPP was making them from a flat textured sheet of ABS plastic. The grain was totally wrong, but the parts would work on cars if they were not being judged. They may have changed their parts by now, I do not know. Duane
