The general opinion is to stay very far away from those pistons and spring for a good set of forged pistons.

Here's a recent thread where you can see what people had to say.

they are SPEEDPRO pistons, HYPEREUTETICS have tight tolerences so you must bore the block to the pistons, you must use proper octane, and stay away from nitrous.if you dont want to do these things i would go for forged. i run hypers and have had no problems yet.

    Thanks for the info,

I was wondering if these pistons from the same company were any better in your opinionthey are the Stock replacement cast pistons (High Compression). Are these domed, dished, or flat top pistons I was hoping on raising the compression on my engine up. Anyone out there know where I can get a good set of high compression pistons for a reasonable price?? I was hoping on 10.5:1 or a little better. Thanks for all your help.

A lot of people run the hypers, and I see Jim Burek saying all the time that they are a good street/strip piston for under 550 hp (maybe not an exact quote, but something like that). On the other hand, like Kelly said, you have to have everything just right. I have a set, but I didn't want to take the risk.
I was wondering if anyone has used PAE rods? Any experience with those?

Gerald, I have run hypereutectics in lots of engines over the years. I had one guy hurt one due to detonation, but then again ,, I have seen forged pistons get hurt from detonation aswell.
We have run lots of turbo motors with the hyper pistons as well and pushed 19 to 20 pounds of boost.
My opinion is that the hypers are safe for engines approaching 500 horsepower, more than that , we definately move in to a forged piston.
    The hyper's are dished.
If you are looking for about 10.5 to 1, a good choice would be the wiseco dished pistons, these come with 1/16 inch rings and are about the best bang for the buck, Buy the time you buy the sealed power forged with notches , and then the rings, you'll spend as much or more than on these, and the 1/16 inch rings are much better than the stock type 5/64 ring pack.
You can see these on our site a t www.paeenterprises.com

    Lynxh,

Get them shipped via USPS insured rather than UPS. You'll get stuck with a minimum $60 brokerage fee on top of the GST/HST and import fees using UPS. They also suck making a claim to if you're Canadian. My postal claim took only 3 weeks to process.

PAE has kindly sent parts to me via USPS and it's a massive savings in $$$ and time for us Canucks over time.
