Okay, Anyone watch "Overhaulin'" or "Rides" last night? I must admit that I normally prefer well restored muscle cars over altered cars, but last nights Overhaulin' and Rides did some pretty incredible work on a couple of Mopars. Typically i wouldn't agree to "Foosing-up" a classic muscle car, but in both cases, i believe they built some incredible machinery. Not sure that I would be happy if they did that on a '70-72 Buick "a" body....but.... John
Did you see the one where they did a 66 or 67 Skylark? I thought, wow, lets see a nice 455 etc. Wrong, it had a small block Chevy in it and they made it look like a low rider
i didnt particularly care for the challanger last night. the paint was ...so so. the interior with lime green accents looked like it belonged in a honda civic. the rims didnt look right at ALL...and first thing id do when i got the car back was rip out the system. that was pretty stupid of them putting that in an old mopar. the cuda on rides was pretty sweet tho. couldent really find alot wrong with that.
Didn't see Overhaulin' But rides was great. That shop did some incredible work. I love the way the bumper was flush with the body.
Darn I missed it. They put TLC way at the end of the cable channels in the nothing good zone and I never make it that high.
They both looked good but i prefered "RIDES" What do you think the final price tag was ? 150 K for Joe Rogan's ride o No:
Was it 7 months of work? All that custom engine work and body work. THe guys are artists at least 150 maybe 200
Rides I was happy when Joe changed the paint to just Silver! Hey Foose! Everything doesn't have to look like Walt Disney puking!
My guess is that that Rogan's ride cost at least $250K. (Talk about plenty of custom metal work, inside and out.) To put it in perspective, an American Choppers custom theme bike often costs more than $250K. Of course, those bikes are sold to major corporations with money to burn. As far as the two Mopars go, I typically love the paint scheme that Foose designs. Yet, I cannot understand why everyone of these re-done cars needs to have a 2000watt stereo and 20-22 inch rims. The two-tone paint schemes are classy, yet the interiors, the stereos and the rims are too 'gangsta' for me. ~69SkyInNJ
I watched both shows, the cars were killer!!!....so was the 67 Skylark they did awhile back, that small block everyone wants to fuss about was already in the car when they took it.
Rides is an excellent show in my book. Talented people showing you what they can do to a car, not each other. The rims were too big for me but the rest was killer.
I was very impressed with the work they did in the back of the Cuda to get them wheels under the car, new tubs, the frame rails, the center tunnel, the craftmenship was beautiful....what talent them guys have! :TU:
I'm pretty sure all the cars redone on these shows stick the huge stereo/rims/etc to hook the "more show than go" crowd. We look at a car and go "they should spend more time building up the motor than the stereo" and that crowd goes "they should spend more on the stereo, who cares about the motor" so the producers have to come to a happy medium. I definately don't think the "22's" on rogan's car look like they belong there. But the rest of the car was great.
Anyone else find the narrators voice on Rides sorta annoying? I know that Jason Priestly originally hosted the show, but he doesn't appear on anymore and the voice sounds like they got someone who sounded like him to act as a replacement. Both are equally irritating to me though... Anyone remember in the Cuda episode where Joe Rogan holds up that supercharger and says something like, "I dunno what it is, but it's going to make it fast..." He doesn't know what a centrifugal supercharger is? Something irritates me about that as well... getting a custom built mopar and not even know what a supercharger looks like? Even more irritating is that they didn't even use the supercharger! A 528 hemi makes pretty good power, but I was really looking forward to a blown 528. Oh well, I enjoyed News Radio while it was on, so I guess he earned it. But I still don't think that anyone could replace Adam and Jimmy from the original Man Show.
