OK so my truck is a 95 F350 dually with a stock 8 ft painted bed like it came from the factory.I have always had a bedliner in it from when I got it 5 years ago.It is in perfect condition except around the 5th wheel insert, but that's a steel plate anyways(installed when truck was new) I took the plastic insert bedliner out to clean it out and I am thinking of painting the bed with a DIY type bedliner so it lasts another 25 years..Looked at a few examples at the parts store and most do a 6 ft bed as a cost of 70-89 bucks.A qt more is 18 bucks more. Anyone have a recommendation as to a good quality stuff? Pic so it's Buick related..
The parts store stuff is softer. I've used a few different ones and they didn't hold up with even modest use. On my current truck I used Upol Raptorliner based on a few recommendations plus my experience with other upol products has been very positive. It is definitely a far superior product to the duplicolor/parts chain products. Much harder and tougher. Little more pricey, but if you want it to last for years, buy once cry once. This isn't something you want to have to redo every few years. Raptor or Dominator,...Raptor you can get pretty cheap on Amazon, you'll need 8qts kit for a 8ft bed,..wash with soap and water,,,wipe with alchohol then rough up with 36grit Parts store stuff is not what you want....lot of automotive paint stores carry Upol or the Dominator Be sure to get the qt kits the gallon and 5litre can kits are impossible to use without making a colossal mess
Some were saying Herculiner but if you didn't prep the right way,it was not really a good idea.. Since I worked in quarries for several years,it has washed my lungs and I can't spray paint even with a good respirator. Is it brushable or rollerable??
I haven't rolled Raptor , but don't see why it would be an issue, if I was going to roll it I would, get the 5 liter kit, it's less $
Not exactly the answer that you are looking for, but I had the Buchev's bed done with Rhino Liner about 12 - 14 years ago and it still looks great. I do use the truck as a truck.
over $700 here... The made fun of my truck when I took it there last time..It's a 95 but lived it's whole life near Baltimore and was never driven in snow. The frame still retains 90% of factory paint on it.. I only drove it 2 times in the winter since I have owned it the last 5 years.
It was $500 in June of 2005 for my truck. In present money that would be about $575, so Rhino has gone up a bit, but the place that did mine was shut down by the EPA because they didn't consider a spray booth good enough. I think that to do Rhino Liner requires some expensive ventilation equipment.
