Does this tag (from the under side of my rear carpet) look original for a 68 GS? The only reason I wonder is because it doesn't seem to fit that great, especially where it goes under the rear seat. It's almost like someone trimmed it too short. My car was built in Fremont, CA and the tag on the carpet says it was made in Compton, CA.
Looks to be an original. Several clues: note there is no zip code, which means it's old; Trenton was a GM term for carpet "quality", the part no. sure looks to be original.
Yes it's an original tag. Allen Industries was the original supplier to the Fremont Plant. It probably fit fine when new, but due to shrinkage......................... Duane
it'll be molded in, but do a search on the board to find out about buick carpets, maybe under vendor section?
ACC comes highly recommended. I have heard Dorsett is good as well. Check around for best price as all resto houses sell someone's carpet. Grill them on who made it.
Note to all considering a new carpet.... i just got back from Sema and visited the ACC booth, they told me that if you purchase a new ACC carpet from a retailer (such as Legendary) that sells their product mention this Ad code: SEMA09 and get your carpet for 50% OFF for the next 6 months. offer expires 5/8/2010 pass it along....:TU:
Year One only sells other people's stuff--they're basically re-sellers. Dorsett was bought by ACC, so really ACC has a monopoly. They've cut the quality recently on their loop carpets, so it resembles the cheaper style Dorsett used to sell. Since they're the only game in town, they can do whatever they want.
Thanks for the discount code..... That is sad news about the quality however. Anyone know anything about Trim Parts Carpet? I just installed a black carpet from them in friends 442. It looks like it is pretty nice.
Legendary lists their carpet as 100% Nylon not 80/20 like you used to see. Maybe this is the reduction in quality Carstuff 44 mentioned?
Guys, 100% Nylon carpet has straight loops instead of the twisted ones the 80/20 carpet has. The 100% Nylon carpets do not look like the originals and if a loop is caught on something it will pull out an entire "line" of carpeting. The 80/20 is what you need if you are going original. The 100% nylon carpets are what you buy for a driver to save a few bucks. Duane
thanks for that info Duane, my last carpet from Legendary came in a Trim Parts box, a previous one was an ACC i believe? I'll have to check see what they sent me? thanks again for chiming in, Gord
Hm, no dark saddle at that site Jim, Tough color to find. ACC sit has it but they want crazy money for it. $230 I think.
