Orangeorangeorange!!!!! WOW!!! You know its weird, when I first saw the car today with the jambs done, I was underwhelmed...it didn't even look orange and I was disappointed until we rolled it into the sun, but the more I see this color the more it is simply fascinating. Maybe its the two hours of sleep I had but it seems to constantly change. My wife described it best as a "coppery smokey creamy orange that shimmers to bright oranges". I'm just so excited its got some color on it. Next is top frame install, then top, then final assembly and final paint. I have attached a picture. It KINDA shows the color, I mean every picture looks different, I just can't nail it down. Also, compared to original painted parts and the color chips we had, its pretty darn close, maybe just a bit light (when the clear went on...). And hey if its not totally correct, thats ok, as its totally cool. The factory overspray areas were masked in an effort to keep it sanitary. Its been five years of work with this car, seeing the color is a major milestone!!! I'd also like to extend a special "thanks" to Dwane who hangs out here on the board, without his truck and enclosed trailer I could not have brought it home today...we're not done yet buddy but almost!!!! :beer :beer later Tim tired
its about time.....  you wont be able 2 sleep ...ya got color color color on your mind..... :TU: :TU: :TU: :TU: :TU:
Thats what it is....perhaps a tad light but otherwise good match for the original painted parts I still had left... As for the floor, I'll leave it as it. The parts had electrodeposit primer on them, and several layers of epoxy primer, the car will never see rain again. later Tim
Love the colour!,Trying to decide on copper or orange for my wagon?? You might have made my mind up!... :TU:
Looking good Tim :TU: I don't know what will pop more...the orange or the white interrior......but it looks like a good combo. Your hard work will be appreciated by many. Thanks for all your time and effort reviewing many options and posting thye results. Also remember that this convertible was a burned out wreck sitting in a yard wasting away ou: I hope my convertible will look this good when I finally get around to pulling it apart......I'm still having too much fun driving mine :Brow: Lon
I'm sorry - I'm colorblind and forgetful. What color was that you said? p Seriously... It looks terrific. :TU: Please post more pictures. I can't tell the color and texture you have on the floor. If it's primer, what kind is it?
here is another view from Tims web site... http://members.shaw.ca/orangecrush/body.html Tim ..we are all waiting for more...when will the rest of the car be shot?
Hey somebody found my website!!! p Here is another picture using only natural light...no flash. It has changed again, and that one on my website looks copper too...this is a crazy color. Everyone who has seen it goes "cool". I think its gonna look crazy with the white interior and the tan top (as if the top will ever be up when I drive it anyway). Plan is I install top mechanism this week and make sure its working good manually (as I have no electrical in yet) Car is booked in for top install next week. From there it goes right back out for final assembly, blocking, and paint. Maybe, just maybe home by Christmas. That would be perfect but at this point no rushing allowed. later Tim
Ok, and one more, this time in the direct sunlight. The camera shows it as yellow but its really a bright orange so who knows. Hard to tell until the interior is in, the chrome is on and the car is covered in paint. Oh yeah, the primer is PPG epoxy (I didn't spray it), can get exact code if you wish. I believe the paint was PPG as well, there was trouble matching it up so he was talking about maybe using Glasurit (spelling?)...I'll have to ask. I've heard on here that PPG isn't great for buffing out but this guy can lay it down pretty damn nice so I'm ok with whatever he decided to use. His cars are constant show winners and last for years and years so no worries there. These are things I would have normally asked, but like I mentioned earlier I only had two hours of sleep yesterday so the mind slips pretty good. later Tim
..... what do i know... p Nuffin!!!! but your looking at it with very little paint laid.. ..I think it would look great when you see the whole car painted....... but then again we know you and your meticulous ways of operendi .... your just a bit nervous...your at a major point of the restoration... worst scenario...you take off the paint and re-do....just more good stuff 2 add 2 your restoration web-site.......DONT WORRY ....just kidding.... I would of gone sea mist or bamboo creme....HEY HEY JUST JOKING .... :spank: me.........orig paint is always best...everything matching
