This was wadded up in the cowl area of my car and has black paint all over it. I was wondering if any of you folks know of a way to get enough of the paint off to decipher the info under the paint? The left hand side (which is the first column), of information is the only area that the paint has obscured the information. I can make out NOTCH BK SEAT A65, LAMP REAR COURTESY C87, SPEAKER RR SEAT U80 in the second column. TRIM PAD EMBLEM B22, A/RESTS DELUXE D15, CUSTOM REAR SEAT Y03 in the third column. MLDG DR GUARD B93, REMOTE MIRROR D33, CUSTOM RR SHELF Y17 in the fourth column. I was about to start scraping with a razor blade but figured I would ask for tips first... Thanks for any help. Bert
Bert,Thats called a body inspection sheet. Lists some of the options but kinda cool to have. We have a couple from cars we parted and own.
ooh so there is hope, where would this be, where did you find yours? I know carb cleaner and gas eat paint, but im sure theyll mess up the paper also. i couldnt find my build sheet so far, checked in the pillars, behind door skins, under the rear seat, dropped the gas tank and nothing there, all i have to do is look under the carpet before i find out im SOL.
A pillar It was folded up and crammed in the cowl area right below the driver side A pillar. Good Luck Bert
Before you start messing with the paint, try an alternate light souce. Black light, red light, from the front, from the back, etc.
Bert, That Build sheet was used by Fisher Body to fit out your body shell. There isn't a whole lot of info on these sheets, but as already stated, you can generally use different lighting angles to "see" the info that is hidden. Duane
Found the same one under the sound deadner on the passenger side angled foot rest area just under the heater box. It was fully readable! Gives M40 turbo 400 trans code (but no engine info) and exterior and interior colors and options as well as all body options like trim glass etc. Nice to have. Nice find!
